Timing is something that I'm not very good at as haven't done it much before. Been having a string of issues with my '73 Satellite and checked the timing over the weekend and it was way off, it needed advancing quite a lot. Reset the carb mixture and idle screws and it's now running better than it ever has in the past 3 years of owning it. It's got a stock 318 apart from the carb, got an edelbrock avs2 650 cfm. Its been 40+ years since I rebuilt a big block and from here to back then, I've completed a couple of small blocks (318,340)... I'm sure I'm over thinking this but,in the "A" blocks, they have a "thrust plate" to hold the cam shaft back into its home...What does the "B" block have to accomplish this, I can't get my head around this....Help ..read more
