With the weather getting warmer the mind is turning to dry fly patterns and fish lifting to eat them. This is a patten I had some fun with last year. Based around caddis patterns in a small size I think it makes a good match for them but tied larger I think it's taken as a general terrestrial style pattern. Eother way it was a fun one to tie and a few fish liked it.

Wee video I have made for a Adams Dry Fly. A classic pattern that has proven to be a fish catcher for a long time. Very much a classic for a reason. Hopefully a video that is helpful for people tying their own.
Cheers.

I have lately experimented with putting a sparse marabou hackle on the head of my normal Woollies to get more movement. The body hackle keeps the marabou from collapsing. It still lets the Chenille body shine through.
BTW I love the Marabou feathers I hav ..read more

Looks like a great idea Rainbow.
I will have to give this a go, as have started tying tube flies. No doubt you have used them since you wrote this - do you find the catch rate as good as say a range of woolly buggers ..read more

Have you noticed the steady rise in prices for almost everything you need to make your own flies? As a guy who likes to stack at least a hundred streamers into my fly box for a week's streamer fishing the Tongariro. As this can become quite expensive I am always on the lookout for bargains. Below are links to materials I have tested and can recommend
