My Fly boxes are full of my usual flies, but the question is are you including any new flies to your boxes this year. I think it's good we try new patterns and it adds to the joys of fly fishing. Apart from spiders Ak47 I have not added anything new to the box for years, OK I have tried a few new patterns but nothing worthy of a new edition to the box. I'm finished my tying hopefully for the season but noticed that after plenty of years of tying, some of the more usable feathers are seriously reduced and I will probably have to invest at some point. No fear, I haven't got rid of my brilliant Stonfo, but got to use a voucher and got a toolbar and a few other Stonfo tools and scissors etc. The toolbar isnt really needed but I like it and the wife is happier that my fly tying tools are neatly stored off the kitchen table now ..read more

This along with the black pennel was amongst the very first flies that I attempted to tie for myself back in the day .All the neccesary basic skills are there , hackling,dubbing,ribbing and they are still effective patterns when used in the right circumstances ..read more

I am a huge fan on Rite bobbin holder. I’ve been using their standard bobbin holder for 9 years now and I absolutely love it. It sits nicely in the hand, it’s bomb proof and the tension adjustment system is the best on the market. I recently started tying large streamers so decided to treat myself to CerMag bobbin holder. When my new bobbin holder arrived I noticed straight away that it wasn’t straight. I sent it back for a replacement which arrived straight but it kept fraying and cutting...
