Hi all, I'd guess that some of you have given guidance or even classes to club colleagues who wish to try fly tying. I'm going to do that next week, very basic, low level stuff ... Stoat's Tail, Munroes, Dee Monkey for starters. Maybe Irish shrimp flies and Tempeldog thingies to finish. I wonder if any of you have a what I might grandiously call a class template you might share? Much appreciated .... powerjackscarra@gmail.com ..read more

I've been in that situation many times, but it sometimes doesn't warrant buying say a cape for a couple of flies. If I have a material you'd like to try for a couple of flies I'll happily post you a sample. Is anyone else willing to do... Read more ..read more

What’s your views on experimenting with new flies in the spring or just sticking to what you know works . Seems to be the hardest part these days is actually having a fish in the beat / pool your fishing to have a chance [ATTACH... Read more ..read more

The shrimpy profile of a heron hackle scandi spey short body tube. I prefer to tie the hackles in first and slight down and under to keep the wing flat and allow the heron hackle maximum freedom of movement. I love spey flies but if you change the feather wing to fur they fish better and last longer. They look very shrimp like in the water and red dot in hook looks like and eye ..read more
