I recently started to tie my first batch of Pat's Rubber Legs.
Scrolling thru various recipes , some tied with White Legs.
For the life of me, NO WAY I can get myself to even think about using White Legs... compared to a multitude of other color options ( amber, olive, copper, ginger, etc)
,...that r more representative of colors found in stream bed life.
I know I can use a Sharpie to customize the white color.
That is not an attractive option for me.
Pretty accurate to admit there r...

I want to pick folks' brains a bit about strategies for tying streamers to avoid flies fouling when casting.

I'd like to start tying flys, and want to see what the most efficient way to start acquiring materials, tools, etc. I've been watching craigslist and marketplace for someone that's selling their stuff as a lot, but not sure if this is the best way. Am I better off just buying what I need? If so what should I start off with. I'll probably start off with nymphs, buggers, and attractors to start. I fish mostly stocked streams, but am starting to hit some of the PA wild trout streams. Thanks ..read more

I had always used Dai Riki #305 hooks for my dry flies, and am getting thin on stock. Dai Riki has apparently been defunct for some time now so I need to try something else.
What are yinz tying your dry flies on? I typically avoid the bottom barrel and house brand stuff. I don't mind spending as long as I get a decent product in return. I have been using Fulling Mill nymph hooks, but haven't tried their dries yet.
I welcome all suggestions ..read more

I’ve done some unsuccessful searching here and think it’s just a difficult subject to search.
I’d like to hear where everyone puts their flies while the head cement is wet. I tried the bobbin bar but I’m constantly picking them up off the desk ..read more
