Hi all. First post in the Triathlon forum. I may wish to get into a Tri bike, but my reasoning is a bit different. I seek your opinions. I'm 55 and do some fairly serious road biking. Typically short, but hard and fast distances. I've developed "De Quervain's Syndrome" in my right dominant wrist. Very painful and does not seem to be going away. I believe it's the result of overuse, to include the torquing motion on my wrists from hard riding. This morning I began to feel similar issues in my left wrist. If I develop the syndrome in my left, I'll be hobbled. I certainly won't be able to ride an ..read more

I'm doing it. Signed up for a 70.3 in Indian Wells, CA last night. It's just over two weeks away. I've been training continuously for the last two years, but I've never put together all of these elements at these distances before.
I don't think the swim will be any problem. I regularly swim a mile plus and expect to knock that out in well under an hour. The bike leg will be challenging just in maintaining a comfortable position for 56 miles. I'm going to set a target pace of 16 to 17mph. If the course is flat as they're describing, I could maintain a higher pace, but I want to leave something ..read more

Just signed up for the long course tonight. I did this last year and it was brutal. Their long course is this odd duck quasi 1/4 Ironman kind of thing. Longer than an Olympic, but shorter than a 70.3. Starts with a 1 mile swim, then a 34 mile ride (through a lot of mountains) and finishes with a 10 mile run. I'm doing this as a test to see if I'm up for a 70.3. I did it last year and I finished, but there were extenuating circumstances (as in I damn near killed myself the day before with heat stroke [long story] so I started off massively dehydrated). Not like I'm ever more than a back-of-the ..read more

I know a few of us are active in triathlon so let's liven this place up! Post here with your goals, results and upcoming events for 2023 (and beyond).
As for me, I have already finished one this year, a sprint in Sarasota, FL. I did the Olympic there last year and the humidity almost killed me. I just can't cope with humidity anymore.
I have Rage (Las Vegas) tri end of next month. I decided to do the Olympic course for I don't know what reason.
I also plan to do Pumpkinman (also Las Vegas) at the end of October. That's a point-to-point with a hell of an elevation gain on the bike section so I ..read more
