It's always exciting to introduce a new food to your baby when you first start baby-led weaning! But eventually, there won’t be any new foods to try, and the excitement will fade. At this point, I have made at least 400 lunches, so I often find myself staring blankly into the fridge, wondering what to feed Henry ? You will eventually figure out your kiddo's favorite foods and you can always incorporate a few staples into each meal, but it is important to continue to give them a variety so they don’t become a picky eater. I created a simple guide to erase the "what do I feed my kid" stress from ..read more

I swear I’m almost done with all of these intro blogs! The last thing I wanted to talk about was how to set up a toy shelf. If you haven’t read my post on toy rotation, you should catch up on that so we’re on the same page :) Honestly, the toy storage is way more intimidating than setting up the toy shelf. Once you have all of your toys organized, it will only take 10-20 minutes to rotate out toys and create an Instagram-worthy shelfie. I will share our toy storage soon- I am actually very proud of it ? There are six simple rules to follow when setting up your baby’s shelf. RULE 1- Observe you ..read more

It's Shelfie tiiiiime! I will be going into detail on what our current shelf rotation looks like. I will also be including Amazon links to either the exact item or something similar! As an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission if you purchase anything from the link below. Going from top left to bottom right: Cube 1- Wooden stacker toy. In true Montessori fashion, I undid most of the toy so Henry would have to figure it out for himself. I would typically put this all on a tray for easy transport, but I don't have a tray small enough for those cubes. Henry's was a birthday gift, and it ..read more

I was going to jump right into posting a Shelfie (a picture of our cube shelf with Henry’s current toys), but then I realized I should probably explain the benefits of toy rotation and why I love it. There isn’t much to it, but knowing the basics makes rotating toys so much easier! Below are my top eight reasons for including toy rotation in your life. I could have done waaayyyy more, but I think I can convince you with only these ?   Fosters creativity- this mostly depends on what toys you have. We have a strict "no battery-operated toys" rule in our house. I would say 99% of our ..read more

Today was rough guys, really rough. Henry has been teething for what feels like five years (he’s only ten months old), and I wish I had a mojito in my hand as I type this ? I settled for apple juice in a wine glass, haha! Anywho, I figured typing up my first blog post would be a fun way to end my crazy weekend! I plan on explaining what Montessori is and why we chose to do it with our son. I anticipate that I will get off track at least once because it’s just what I do. I do not claim to know everything there is to know about Montessori, I probably really only know about 17%. My goal is to gro ..read more

Baby-led weaning
Montessori Mom Blog

Baby-led weaning, abbreviated to BLW, is all the hype these days. BLW is a method of letting your baby feed themselves solid food rather than being spoon-fed pureed foods. If you read my first blog, you will understand how BLW goes along well with Montessori. It teaches your baby independence, and they can develop motor and oral skills. I first learned about BLW when I was 30-something weeks pregnant, and I was 100% sold! The thought of my little baby drinking out of an open cup and feeding himself sounded pretty nice. Well, I’m four months into it, and let me tell you- it’s not all Instagram ..read more
