Last week, HashiCorp announced the public beta for HCP Packer, a managed service for Packer. Packer might not be as well-known as some of the other HashiCorp tools but it’s universally used to build golden images and templates and it quietly powers a lot of what happens in the public cloud: on Azure…. Azure's new Image Builder service is built on Packer! Looks like a great service. Also their demo video shows Image Builder to Terraform, neat! https://t.co/Yy54U2wdh6 pic.twitter.com/7W1ncf1bU5 — Mitchell Hashimoto (@mitchellh) October 1, 2018 ….but also on AWS: Did you know the official Am ..read more

This is a short follow-up to the blog post I wrote about using Terraform with Fortigate. But before I get CTS for Fortinet working, first, let’s work out how to use Terraform for Fortinet (I didn’t see a lot of tutorials on how this so here is mine). If you don’t have a Fortigate appliance at hand, then you can do like me and get one from th ..read more

This is Part 4 of a whole series on Consul-Terraform-Sync, a pretty recent cool integration between Consul and Terraform. Part 1: Introduction Part 2: Building a Module Part 3: Enterprise Integration In this post, I will explore something that came out this week with v0.4 of CTS: an integration with the Consul Key/Value store. Consul can do a lot of things – service mesh, service discovery, network segmentation – but one of its most common use cases is for a simple key-value store. Key/Value stores are often used for metadata – and one of the most common metadata tools in the Cloud world is ..read more
