I have an International Cadet 782 bought new by my father sometime around 1981. Serial number shows a build date of December 1980. If I recall the history correctly, the original engine was replaced with a new Kohler Magnum 18HP engine sometime in the late 1980s. I now do not use the tractor on a regular basis, usually driving it only once or twice each summer. I have been careful to use only ethanol free gasoline. However, as of recent changes in regulations in Canada, I am no longer able to buy gasoline with less than 10% ethanol. Can anyone advise if the use of ..read more

The deck lift on my 782 became very slow in the fall , the lower is as fast as ever , it’s just the raise that is slow. I took the deck right off and it still persists. The hydro works well forward and reverse , no issues there. I read online that replacing the hydraulic filter could help. So I just replaced the hydro filter and oil with viscosity ultraction today. The raising is a little faster but still slow compared to the lower.
I haven’t been able to track down a hydraulic schematic , any advice?  ..read more

So dumb question time.....
If I remove the battery from the tractor.... to do some welding - do I still run the risk of messing anything up on the tractor - gauges, charging of engine, etc?
I need to rebuild the sub-frame jaws at the front for the blade/mower deck to attach. Mine is worn out, so was going to weld on new jaws.

Well, finally was home to plow my driveway for once. After 32 years of plowing for the state I told my boss no more..
Anyhow , about 10 years ago had a 54 inch craftsman plow kicking around and the 1863 seemed like it would be a capable pusher. So I fabled up a frame that locks and bolts to the tractor frame. Made a lift arm for the tractor and a rod to raise and lower the plow.
Over built and over thought ? Probably but it works and I have some down pressure.   ..read more

I bought this hydraulic lift sight unseen last winter and threw it together to see if it worked. This past month it was time to make it right as it worked but leaked like a bullet riddled battleship. This included-
-painted with CNH iron guard
-shaft seal was gone. O rings didn't stop leaking. New timken seal(s) were installed.
-new hoses as the originals were pretty dry rotted.
-new ultraction hydraulic fluid (the original hytran formula) going in.
Once the engine is back in we'll see how it works ..read more

I have a Cub cadet 149 that just will not run right, I got it from a friend and they had run it for years but got a new mower and stopped running it. we had rebuilt the engine because it had a slight knock and gave it a paint job because I had wanted to fix it up. But no matter what it will not go over idle, it will just suffocate itself if you give it more throttle. I went through the carb and changed the coil, I don’t know what else to do but i still think it could still be the carb.
any help is appreciated, thanks ..read more

Well, the zero turn deck was worse than I thought......what looked like a few holes ended up being a rusted out hanger bracket too.
