Remember that time
when you wished the day could last forever?
That day at the beach
We ran, built sandcastles, told stories
Swam like fish in the sea.
We saw the sunset
but continued playing
Willing the adults to stay
Timeless moments
Sweet joy and freedom forever

“There is not just one photography but several photographies that exist in different contexts and forms, from the vernacular to art, from New York to Mexico City to Lagos.
Our task is no longer about trying to define what is photography; it’s really about trying to share the most interesting photography in its different forms.”
Clément Chéroux, the new chief photography curator at the Museum of Modern Art, in his interview with Lesley A Martin, creative director of Aperture and publisher of The PhotoBook Review.
A very interesting interview.

Fragile
Beautiful
Strong to have made it to the beach.
A shell companion, quiet witness
Birds, ocean, sky
Now you may drop the struggle.
Allow your fragility
Rest. Rest. Rest.

This is a wonderful day.
I’ve never seen this one before.
– Maya Angelou
How do we keep the freshness of our spirits and love of life when it sometimes seems we’re caught in the sameness of every day?
How do we stay in wonder?
For me, my photography practice and every day walks are my window into the mystery and beauty of life these days – no matter what is happening in my outer or inner world.
Some days I bounce out the door, looking forward to the beauty I know I’ll see. Other days I go only because I know that I’ll feel better by the time I return to the house – but still grouchily thinkin ..read more

Life is filled with many moments of beauty,
filling us with the awe of being alive.
Come join me in “Moments of Awe…30 Days”
I invite you to post, once a day for 30 days,
something in your day that uplifts you, has happened to you,
or that you’ve captured through your art.
Postings can be a photograph, painting, a phrase or quote,
an observation, a poem you’ve written…
all in response to your day.
The daily practice of “Moments of Awe” is to remind us each day
of the small and large joys that are given to us –
and will allow us to deepen and make real
