Dr. Cline, affectionately known as Dr. Frog, taught various biology-related courses at JSU for nearly 30 years. He was deeply involved in the community, conducting animal presentations and volunteering at the Anniston Museum of Natural History, where he played a key role in the annual HerpFest. He also led educational activities at the university’s Frog Pond. Dr. Christopher Douglas had a paper accepted at the British Society for 18th Century Studies Annual Conference, held at Saint Hugh’s College Oxford University in Oxford, England.  The conference is January 3rd-5th, and he will be the panel’s first presenter. The British Society for 18th Century Studies is the largest society of 18th-century culture, history, art, and literature in England, and its annual conference is the largest conference on 18th-century subjects held annually in Europe. Dr. Jimmy Triplett, assistant professor, Department of Biology, and winner of the Faculty Scholar Lecturer Award. The Biology Department’s Dr. Jimmy Triplett recently uncovered a new native bamboo species previously unknown in the state of Alabama. This species, known as Tallapoosa Cane or Arundinaria alabamensis, has been identified as Alabama’s thirty-first endemic vascular plant and the fourth native bamboo species in the United States. Genetic Counselor in Training  Jordan Peters, originally from Anniston, Alabama, is a Jax State alum who graduated in 2022 with a B.S. in Biology. After graduating from JSU, she worked as an intern at the UNC Cancer & Adult Genetics Clinic for a year, and now she is attending the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine training to be a genetic counselor.   During her time at JSU, Peters discovered her passion for genetics, and she became eager to study genetic conditions, their causes, and how they affect people’s lives.
