I'm trying to get a clear idea of what these two terms mean. Udemy and other instructional videos I'm learning from are just showing numbers, but then you go to a cash flow statement and the numbers are negative. I'm getting totally opposite definitions online as to what the differences are.
Site A say:
A negative Capex entry on a cash flow statement indicates money is leaving the company for these expenditures. This means the company is investing money to drive...

I was wondering if anyone could shed light on something.
Using Stock Analysis.com (ticker BROS)
Example:
I'm looking at the Annual TTM EPS on the income statement for Jun 30, 2024, it's .27
Now If I look at the same date, Quarterly TTM EPS June 30th 2024, it's .12
I don't understand why changing from annual to quarterly statements is giving such different results. Because both...

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right place to post this question:
How do I invest long term (months, years) into natural gas?
From my understanding, I can go long on NG1! futures with Schwab, but that's more for short term trading, (days / weeks).
For holding the position for months (or even years), would I use the same method, or is there a better way ..read more

Hello you very intelligent and wonderful people that make up this forum. I truly hope things are going well for you.
I recently have been looking into the concept of GARP investing (Growth At A Reasonable Price). The GARP strategy considers growth rates between 10% and 20% ideal. Factors such as the last five year EPS & projected 3-5 year EPS growth rates between 10% and 20% are one of the criteria. I please kindly wondered if anyone knows of a screener that can be used for GARP investing...

We are on the cusp of peak global population. UN predicts peak population of roughly 10B in 2083.
Some clever folks have sifted through UN population models to discover it is complete bullshit, built in misdirection. Forget 10B and 2083.
It seems more likely, Earth will peak in the late 2030s. That's 12~15 years from now.
North America has a growing population due exclusively to immigration. North American birthrates are WAY below 2 children per couple.
It seems more likely birth...

On Monday, some shares of BRK.A traded for $185.10. That is a considerable discount. Trading on the stock was halted and, later, the trades were reversed. NYSE called it a "technical glitch".
Apparently, there is a system that blocks trades that are outside of a predetermined window. That system malfunctioned, among others. When trades went through that were too low, they were reversed.
This raises several questions.
- how is a stock purchase not a stock purchase?
- is this a sign...

Any thoughts on how the Trump trials have and will affect the markets? I have limited visibility into the GOP bubble so I would appreciate any perspectives.
If Trump skates through and ends up with little to no liability, will that force liberals to pull money from the markets to buy tissue for all the crying?
If Trump ends up in jail, will the GOP base pull their money out of the markets to buy guns and ammo?
Maybe no significant impact?
While you're here, what will happen when the...

I'm breaking this out of my blog because it is specific. Please feel free to counter or present alternative approaches.
The vast majority of text on the Internet is total crap based on previous total crap. People like to pretend to know more than they do. Bad information and bad ideas propagate like syphilis in the mediasphere.
How then to filter?
I start with the idea of disregarding EVERYTHING. I ONLY onboard credible information. If there is no credible information, I move on with...

I've been watching Ukraine's war effort like the Zapruder film. Fascinating stuff.
The Ukraine war has turned into a financial war, of sorts.
The cheapest guided bomb costs roughly $50K. That is a Russian bomb. Americans can't fill a balloon with water for $50K.
The most expensive drone Ukraine uses costs less than $1000. They use several models.
They strap grenades to suicide drones using zip-ties and then pilot them into the target. It is brutally simple, comically cheap, and...
