It was on a roadtrip through northern Idaho many years ago when I stopped in a small lake-side town called Sandpoint to take a break. A quick google search let me know there was a coffee roaster & cafe not far from where I was. That fortuitous stop, introduced me to Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters. … More Coffee Roaster of the Month – Evans Brothers ..read more

They say “Virginia is for Lovers.” And if there is on thing that Richmond, VA locals love it’s their specialty coffee scene. One such roaster and cafe that has begun to carve out quite the following and was even able to get on my radar way out here in Calgary is none other than PAIX … More Coffee Roaster of the Month – PAIX ..read more

Back in April of this year I had the chance to spend quite a bit of time over at the Wonderstate booth in Roaster’s Village at SCA Expo. I got to know their team, and enjoy their coffee. And it was then that I knew I would want to share their story here on my … More Coffee Roaster of the Month – Wonderstate Coffee ..read more

Specialty coffee is always about the people. And there are some people that you cross paths with that truly leave a lasting impression. Carol and Eric are two such people. We first met up in person at SCA Expo in Portland, but I’ve known them for longer than that through the wonder of social media. … More Coffee Roaster of the Month – Talking Crow Roasters ..read more

One of the highlights for me every year attending SCA Expo is their Roaster’s Village. It’s a gathering of a few dozen coffee roasters from across the world who bring some truly remarkable coffees for attendees to sample.
One of the roasters who caught my attention early on, was Night Swim Coffee. And I’ll confess I returned quite a few times over the weekend to try more of their offerings. It felt like when I was a kid at Costco trying to sneak extra samples…without putting a hat on, or taking off your jacket so you trick the person into believing you were someone different. (I can’t be the ..read more

Step off the plane in Arizona and it feels like your walking on the surface of the sun. And that’s in the middle of January! Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but for a state that sees more sun and more heat than any other in the USA, would you believe it also has one of the most incredible coffee cultures!? Now, more might take their coffee iced over hot, but regardless of that minor detail this state has fast become a place that I have fallen in love with its coffee culture.
And where I want to take us this month is not to the capital, but rather to a city 90 minutes south–Tucson ..read more

I had heard of Ruby years ago, but it wasn’t until last April while attending the Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland where I got the chance to meet their team and enjoy some of their coffee! Let me just say that both impressed me greatly.
So much so that I knew I had to keep in touch and find a time to feature them on my blog. Well, on the eve of the next SCA Expo coming up later this month in Chicago, I am thrilled to share the story of Ruby Coffee Roasters as our Coffee Roaster of the Month for April.
Huge thanks to Jared Linzmeier (co-founder of Ruby) for being willing to do this.

Specialty coffee roasters in the province of Quebec continue to grow both in terms of the number of roasters but also in terms of the quality of coffee being roasted. It has been remarkable to witness this growth over these past few years, and to be able to share about it here on this site.
One such roaster from La Belle Province that has caught my attention recently is none other than our Coffee Roaster of the Month for March. Let me introduce you to Cafe Folklore, and have them share their story below.

Today marks 5 years sharing stories of various coffee roasters!
WOW.
I have always been a storyteller. That was in part why I launched this blog. And I still love telling stories today. One of my favourite stories to tell are those of the incredible specialty coffee roasters that you and I enjoy on a daily basis.
And that’s why today, instead of sharing the story of one roaster, I wanted to thank ALL OF THEM. To say thank you to each and every single roaster that said yes to letting me interview them, and to share their story with you–my readers. And I should say a huge THANK YOU to all of yo ..read more
