Gerald Bull was a Canadian inventor who worked for the U.S. and Canadian governments researching supergun technology. In the 1960s, Gerald was one of the world’s leading artillery experts, and spent much of his time designing rockets and guns. But that was not his passion. Gerald wanted to change the way that satellites were launched into space. Using a supergun would make it easier to launch a satellite and would reduce costs. To do that, he set out to design and build the biggest gun the world had ever seen. He called the supergun “Big Babylon.” The plans called for the barrel of the gun to ..read more

What is your opinion of the MC14 T Tip-Up pistol by EAA? -From Todd M. Answer: The MC14 is a newer handgun from European American Armory. The unique thing about the pistol is the tip-up-barrel design. The pistol is a good option for people who have difficulty racking the slide on a semi-automatic. The gun is chambered in .380 and has a 13-round magazine. It reportedly has low recoil and is simple to shoot. If you are looking for a pistol that doesn’t require racking the slide, this is an option worth considering. The pistol sells for about $500.   What are your thoughts about red dots vs ..read more

Dale P. is a hunting guide in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. One day, Dale came face-to-face with a grizzly bear that was notorious for harassing campers in the area. The grizzly bear attacked Dale, but he fought back against the grizzly barehanded. Dale was able to shove his arm down the bear’s throat while at the same time pinching the bear’s jugular. Amazingly, these moves caused the bear to pass out and slump to the ground. While the bear was passed out, Dale found a large piece of wood and beat the bear, with the wood until he was confident it was dead. The taxidermized bear sits inside the Milli ..read more

What are your thoughts on a stainless-steel defense baton? My wife and I are both considering getting them since we live in a state where owning a gun is not a realistic option.  -From Keith W. Answer: Batons wouldn’t be my first choice for self-defense but they are better than nothing. Before buying a baton, I would check your state and local laws. In some states, you need to be a police officer or on-duty security guard with a permit in order to legally carry a baton. In addition to a baton, I would also get a knife, tactical pen and stun-gun flashlight, if you can.   I’ve heard yo ..read more
