This curious building is really hidden in plain sight right in the middle of the busiest street downtown Tunis. One of the earliest reference, is found in a touristic guide and mentions this building as a hotel in the 1910ies. part of it was used as habitation and the other as shops and workshops. Located few meters from Marché Central, many poeple walk by but never suspect such a curious architecture right next to them. Immeuble De Guidi as seen from one of the windows. There a strange and curious domes construction on the side of a road at the very south of Tunis. it looks like small houses of another civilisation or even from a SCI-FI movie. Actually, it was a quiet famous café/restaurant, in Bourj Cedria at the very south of Tunis, located on a national road GP1. So it was a kinda famous stop where people traveling by car can eat and drink. There, even used to be live music and discotheque. Since the the highways, less and less people take that national road. and the restaurant closed but you can still stop and take a break to explore this architectura ..read more

in the late 19th/ early 20th century many european consulates were located inside the medina of Tunis. Most of them, in Zarkoun Street and it’s surroundings, since it was the diplomatic zone at that ime. Couldn’t find reliable informations about what happened to this monument after the relocation of the consulate. Fact is, now it’s completely collapsed. Long and complicated story short: a regiment of serbian soldiers fled a battle they lost in the balcan war and decided to retreat in Tunisia, at that time still a french colony, with the consent of France their ally. ans they burried their fallen soldiers in that town. Located in Bou Argoub (40 km from Tunis), in the middle of agricultural farms, this unusual Palace seems outstanding from nowhere. a false and persistant urban legend says that this italian Palazzo was built for the italian Dictaor Benito Mussolini but none of this is true. designed by the italian architect Ugo Chiarini, in 1935 for the Garsia, a rich italian landowner family. decorated with mosaics representing the zodiac signs, thus the name of this palace: Villa zodiac. unfortunatly, the building is abandoned and some local families are squating it. couldn’t visit all parts of it.
