Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, but not so new to alopecia lol I've had it for roughly 15 years now. Was hoping for some advice and insight please. I've always had Areata, falling out and growing back again and again. but since last year, it had started affecting my beard and eyebrows. The problem I had, was that when I noticed my eyebrows falling, I slightly developed a habit of playing/pulling them, I suppose in some sort of nervous behaviour about it. Eventually my eyebrows fully went. But what I'm not sure of, is is it the pulling that caused this or my alopecia? It only fell/pull ..read more

Was the Clean Hair out of the Sink Notice meant for me?
Alopecia World Forum

So my office put up a set of rules in the women's restroom. Most of them are common sense. One of them is "Clean hair out of the sink!" And I'm thinking to myself, okay, I'm the only one with that issue when it falls out, and I don't notice. Normally, I am on it when I do lose a few strands of hair or when my wig sheds the synthetic hair. I feel this was meant towards me without singling me out. And how am I supposed to control it when I have no control over it? What are your thoughts on it ..read more

I am boy and I have always had short hair, but sometimes let it grow out until the fringe be too long. I am now 29 years old and haven't been at the hairdresser since the end of 2022. I have tried to let the hair grow until it's easier to find a female wig that look like my hair, so that I don't suddenly go out with longer hair than I used to have. My main problem with wearing a wig is that I excrise a lot and cycle a lot. I sweat so much that I can't wear a sweater when I work out, but I'm fine with a t-shirt. I guess a wig will make my head way too hot. And when I cycle I wear helmet witch w ..read more

Guess what?!  I already booked my hotel/flight for this 39th annual event in June.   Only details provided at the moment is the hotel which i'm not waiting for rooms to fill up and/or prices to increase.  I know this is going to be an emotional journey for me - with this being my 1st conference and i'm going alone by choice to keep my anxiety under control (hopefully). I would love to hear some stories of anyone who has attended - maybe provide some tips for me.  I did find NAAF 2022 agenda online which looked amazing and very detailed. **Link in case you wanted t ..read more

Diagnosis change

At 28, I was diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia, but it didn't show enough until I hit my 40's. I am 55 now and being told I don't have AGA, but something else. I suspect Alopecia Areata Incognita, my thinning is diffuse, but more noticeable at the top of my head. Is it worth the biopsy?  My labwork otherwise is normal and no family history of baldness for the past 3 generations. I suspect I have a generalized autoimmune disease, but I can't get my doctors to listen. It is very frustrating. Could a biopsy help find the cause of my other symptoms?  ..read more

Hello everyone, I am 33 years old and have had hair loss since I was 21. When I was in my mid-twenties, I took finasteride orally for almost a year and had erectile dysfunction as a result, so I stopped it because lipido is more important to me than hair on my head. I then decided to have hair transplant 2 years ago. Everything went well, but unfortunately the hair loss of the “old hair” is progressing very quickly. That’s why I want to do something about it and I’m thinking about taking minoxidil orally plus mesotherapy dutasteride (1x/month for half a hair then every 3 months -). I am in Mex ..read more
