Hello AW :-)
I’ve been on Xeljanz for 13 months now (5mg x 2 daily) and have had huge success with it, went from totalis to full regrowth! But sadly 3 weeks ago I discovered a large patch the size of a 50c coin (I’m Australian lol) that tripled in size in the space of a week. Now at the 3 week mark, I’ve noticed rapid shedding reminiscent of when I first started losing my hair 2 years ago (I had a full head of hair and lost it all within 2 months) and I know it’s fairly early but the bald patch also shows no signs of regrowth.
The potential triggers could be a common cold I had around 4 weeks ..read more

I am a boy who will soon turn 29 and have always had short hair, but until last year I went to the hairdresser several times a year, about once a month or once every two months. Now I haven't been to the hairdresser since last December and I'm trying to save for long hair. I want hair that goes down a little longer than the ears.
Due to exercise and stress, I have lost some of my bangs and hair around my ears. It grows back. I have been to several hairdressers and many have said that I have thick hair, at least if I have waited several months for the next cut. But now I just let it grow out an ..read more

I’ve had some type of alopecia for at least 30 years. I have heard so many comments from people. There is one that I just can’t wrap my head around , people telling me how lucky I am to have alopecia and not cancer. It somewhat makes me feel guilty, but why do they think I’m lucky. There are many people that overcome their cancer And live a long, happy, healthy life that includes growing back a full head of hair. I guess it’s the threat of death that they’re referring to. I was just wondering if anybody else ever feels like I do. Please don’t be too harsh. I really don’t mean to be inse ..read more

"A woman with alopecia has said she hopes her appearance at London Fashion Week will be an inspiration to others."
According to the article at BBC, "Laura Mathias, 31, hid her condition for 17 years but has been setting herself challenges to embrace it."
"A year after "ditching her wig" she took to the catwalk in London which she described as "terrifying".
She joined 30 models from diverse backgrounds with clothes designed to help people with disabilities."
"Laura Mathias said she hopes that she can be the role model for other young girls that she never saw as a teenager with alopecia ..read more

Hello everyone. My name is Simone. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata 32 years ago. In the meantime, I had alopecia universalis for 16 years. In 2015 I started taking Xeljanz, and I was blessed to regrow all my hair.
I am founding an Alopecia Support Group in Florence under NAAF. It's the first group in SC. I'm looking for people that would like to join. I'll be having online Zoom meetings so that you can be anywhere in SC. I plan to meet online this Wednesday, March 1st, at 6:30 pm.
Email me if you'd like to participate, and I will send you the link to join.

Does anyone have information about a wig that can be used for swimming for a 13 year old girl? She wants to swim this summer but wants a wig and I haven't heard of one that can be used for that. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks,
Jack Morlan

Hello, I've heard there is a lady with a program called Alopecia Angel, and it seems to have legit reviews. But, i'd like to hear from any of you here, if you know someone or if you've ever tried her program? I'm thinking about joining it. I just want to be 100% sure.  ..read more

I read an article in the New York Times about using low dose oral minoxidil for hair loss. Asked my dermatologist about it and after a couple blood tests he prescribed it for me. I've been on it since September and see results. Lots of new little hairs and the old hairs seem to be thicker. It is relatively inexpensive and my insurance covers it. Dose is 1/40th of what is prescribed for blood pressure ..read more
