The CentOS Alternative Images SIG has produced live images for many popular desktop environments: CINNAMON GNOME KDE MATE XFCE MAX (All the desktops above, plus a few more) Live images were something I have wanted to see for a long time in CentOS. It really helps you see how your hardware handles a distro. https://sigs.centos.org/altimages/images/#live-images 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

PHP versions and modules in CentOS Stream 9 [resolved]
Fedora Forum » CentOS

CentOS Stream seems to ship with PHP 8.0 as a “Base” (in lack of knowing a better term) which is end of life and out of security support. It is generally advised to not run such software versions and to make matters worse, PHP is usually exposed to the internet. In theory you could switch to a different version via modules, but that is impossible if you want to use a PHP module from EPEL which does not support modules. Now I do have some questions in order to plan accordingly: How is it justifiable from a security perspective to ship PHP 8.0 as a base or default version in CentOS Stream 9? Ar ..read more

CentOS Stream 8 feels like a dead end without any official upgrade support [resolved]

I also just commented this as a comment on the blog post announcing end dates for CentOS Stream 8 and CentOS Linux 7: Regarding the “Migrate to CentOS Stream 9” option: There is no link here and I can’t find an official migration guide. I don’t think this migration is supported in any way is it? I managed to migrate using a third party guide which was a bit scary and a lot more manual work than I had hoped for. I love Fedora Workstation as my daily driver and did my share of Debian server upgrades without hassle. Using CentOS 8 on a server and upgrading it to Stream 8 feels like a mistake in ..read more

[CentOS Connect Follow-up] Proposal for the Git interface to the Compose Gate
Fedora Forum » CentOS

Intro One of the main topics discussed at the CentOS Connect in Brussels last week was the ability for third-parties (for example RDO or IdM teams) to contribute test results to the Compose Gate of the CentOS Stream so that they can prevent regressions on CentOS Stream packages before they hit the public mirrors. Currently we run the so called t_functional test suite in the Compose gate, which can be extended by contributing your own test cases (the TMT version of the test suite is being developed in CentOS / Integration SIG / compose-tests · GitLab) But for larger projects like RDO (Openstack ..read more

CentOS Connect - Integration SIG Meetup ideas?
Fedora Forum » CentOS
by Aleksandra Fedorova

Folks, as you maybe know, the CentOS Connect event at FOSDEM has been extended to host meetups on Thursday, Feb 1 2024. So we can organize a meetup dedicated to CentOS Integration SIG there. The deadline to apply is December 18th. So we have some time before that to decide if we want to host a meetup and what work we can do there. Therefore two questions: Are you going to the CentOS Connect on Feb 1, 2024 in Brussels? Click to view the poll. And if yes, do you have a preference on what to hack on? 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more
