On short notice my son and I got an invitation to go hunt some sea ducks off the coast of Maine. I had originally planned to stay home this weekend for some family holiday obligations on Sunday but this was too good of an opportunity to pass up. went out opening day of pa duck, shot a woodie and went to retrieve it and stepped into a hole and fell over a log , landed on rocks with my elbow and knee, twisted ankle and hurt shoulder. it aint always like you see onTV ! my waders leaked and i lost my water bottle . just gotta laugh it off . my buddies sure did get a good laugh out of it ! getting old aint for sissies ! so far duck season has been real slow , hoping it picks up. get out there and enjoy yourself no matter what ..read more

Sarah wanted to go duck hunting this weekend so Friday afternoon I did a little scouting and found a couple spots. We got to the launch about 5 this morning and were greeted by thick fog. I used a compass and the OnX app to navigate through the pea soup to the closer of the spots. We set up my portable blind on shore and put out a couple dozen decoys. I got my son out for some duck scouting and an opportunist goose hunt over the weekend. After initially thinking the spot was looking good for the upcoming duck season we noticed some geese through our binoculars. We weren’t dressed or set up to decoy and call them but we sure could give a try at paddling within range. Shooterbuck was able to get within range and shot one before it had a chance to take off. We are planning a seas duck hunt to the Portland area in December for Eider and I have a bit of an odd question. I've heard that there can be problems with the seals taking birds after you shoot them, and wondered if there is ever a problem with the seals bothering dogs when they retrieve the birds.
