I've expanded on original ideas with new finishes, colors, and completely new designs that truly shine.

There were many highlights in 2023. I’m a published author. I also turned 40 and traveled to nine countries with my dear friends to celebrate. We got through our first year of marriage! My sister is pregnant. We bought a piece of land to build our dream home from the ground up. There is so much to be genuinely grateful for. I was having dinner with my husboo on NYE and he asked me what some of my intentions were for 2024 and it took me a minute to gather my thoughts. Here’s how my brain played out during the convo. “Hmm…what are my goals? Oh...is this Ashanti playing? Ok stay focused. Wow tho ..read more

Getting inspiration from the Living by Design Showhouse, I picked out lights from Lamps Plus to help one of my clients brighten up their living room. They loved how I used my Mitzi collection to create depth in the showhouse and they wanted something similar in their space. They have amazing natural light coming in during the day but in the evening they struggled to create the perfect ambience. When it comes to a living room, I like to layer a variety of floor and table lamps to add dimension to the space. Here, I chose two table lamps and two floor lamps, one in each corner to balance ..read more

When I first started blogging, I was also doodling furniture designs for fun because I wasn’t seeing pieces out there that I wanted. Now fast forward 13 years later, I’m so excited to announce my very first light collection with Mitzi! What a dream come true! This collection is so special to me because it’s my entry to product design. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do more and I’m thrilled I get to work with the incredible Mitzi team.
My process for this collection started with primitive geometric shapes, likes cones, spheres, and lines. Then I turned these simple objects into something ..read more

Step inside and tour the second annual Living By Design Showhouse. I’m beyond excited to be part of this project! Check out my maximalist guest bedroom, closet and bathroom designs. My good friend Louvain was my jumping-off point for inspiration. She’s a nomadic bohemian who loves color. She recently moved to Berlin and I imagined designing this space for her. I went wild with playing with prints and patterns, contrasting color schemes, mixing old and new pieces, and blending traditional and contemporary architectural details.
My design approach for the bedroom was to add a calming blu ..read more

While I was digging through my folders for a file yesterday, I found these alternate book options. I thought it’d be fun to share them with you all to see the process. This was the first pass They were designed by Ten Speed’s talented graphic designer, Lizzie Allen. I loved that the whole team embraced my love of color and was intentional in making it a vibrant one. The top two were my favorites of the bunch. I love the yellow border and yellow striped banquette. Initially I wanted my book to be yellow since it’s so me. But I felt like the space itself wasn’t vibrant enough. And on the right ..read more

If you’re new around here, I wanna introduce myself. I’m Dabito and I’m a designer and artist. I have a voracious appetite for infusing color into spaces. I believe color and decorating was how I was able to pacify a lot of my issues growing up as a queer Asian American. Although, I love colorful interiors, it took me a long time to actually wear color because I didn’t like to draw attention to myself cause I was very shy and introverted. But now as a 40 year old I can say that I’m a full on extroverted Aries! It’s been a long journey. Let’s see…what else. I almost always grab a bag of BBQ ch ..read more
