I have 10 white round outdoor tables that need to be painted. In the past, I’ve painted these using a rust oleum oil base paint. The problem is the scratch up fairly easily. After painting, what would be a good sealer to use to protect the paint ..read more

I am finishing my basement and I did it all in GoBoard! 3x5 1/2” boards weighing only 7lbs was an easy choice. I am at the spackle phase, next up is paint. Doing my research on best choice; looks like 1•2•3 zinsser. Anyone have any other inputs, not much info on how to paint GoBoards ..read more

Hi; About 2 weeks ago we steamed the wallpaper off and cleaned the walls in a bathroom with nothing but a steam cleaner so there was no residue from a cleaner and they looked very clean. We used a gallon of true value easy care paint. At least around 10 days after the paint was applied I took a shower in there and I was cleaning and wiped up some water droplets with a clean dry towel and the paint is wiping right off. It's wiping off the ceiling and the walls, so not just where the... Paint failure ..read more

Front Door Paint: Edges Same Color as Inside or Outside?
DIY Chatroom » Painting

The people who built my house had the door painted brown, like furniture, with the grain showing. I don't know if it's polyurethane or what. After years facing the afternoon sun, the outside of the door needs to be redone. I want to paint the outside of the door dark red. Something like Rust-Oleum that will last forever. When painting exterior doors different colors on the front and back, is there a convention for the door edges? Right now the edges are brown. If I leave them alone, I... I saw quite a few similar posts but they were 2017-18. I'm using Citrustrip and few other strippers on very heavily painted bannisters and door details in a house built in 1900. I'd say there are 6 layers of paint, the last being a recent heavy brown coat. Under that I see a lot of yellows, pinks, aquas, etc. I'm using small metal brushes to get into the detail areas but the stripper causes the paint to become wet and just gunk those up again and again. I suppose I expected... Paint stripper products creating goo ..read more

What is best practice for caulking the seam between painted trim or siding up against cedar shingles and cedar tongue and groove soffit. the cedar was installed raw and will be stained with a semi transparent stain in the spring once it has fully dried. My thought is to paint the trim and siding first. stain the cedar then caulk the seams with a clear product? Never done this before though ..read more

I bought a stainless steel prep table - the kind that is used in commercial kitchens - for my laundry room. my wife wanted to paint it to match the walls. We sanded the table to try to allow the paint to stick and then used spray prier and spray paint - 3 coats but still cannot get the paint to adhere well. Any suggestions on what to do to get a nice finish on a table like this? Thanks, Eric ..read more
