The idea of colorgrading.se is to showcase my color grading work, share my process in blog posts and serve clients all over the world with color and video work. I have recently educated myself into the world of color grading. There has always been an interest in color work but I have never stepped into it fully. I have been active in the professional industry of video production for 5+ years now. I used to do it on the side before I went full time with it. So why color grading? I can’t really answer the why, it just attracts me. I started out playing around with pre-made LUTs in Premiere P ..read more

Stock Footage Correction

I thought about getting an account at a stock footage provider, and so I did. The idea was to sell the footage for some extra income but I haven’t seen any returns yet. It became more time-consuming than I thought so I will probably not focus too much on that going forward. However it was a good practice to color correct all the clips. Here’s a mashup of clips that ended up on my Pond5-site: If you want to know more about what I can offer you in terms of video services, click here. Last weekend I played around with a DJI Drone at shot some footage of the city of Nyköping. On my IG channel I have graded a bunch of drone footage in 1080p with various quality. The issue has been to pull keys (obviously) because of the quality of the clips. So I wanted to practice on original drone footage instead. I really enjoy the D-LOG profile on the DJI Mavic, it retains a lot of information. And if you expose correctly the grading processes becomes a breeze. Down below you can see to different approaches on grading dji drone footage. Both looks a natural looking and I wanted to keep it ..read more

I used to have a Sony Alpha A7s II which was a beast of a DSLR when it first came out in 2016. I got mine in 2017 and use it a lot with Canon FD-lenses and Canon EF. I loved how easy it was to get good-looking footage and nail the focus thanks to Sony’s focus peaking feature. It was really a game-changer coming from shooting on a Canon system. Back then I wasn’t too interested in color grading so I ended up slapping on a stylized LUT to make the image pop. I ended up selling the Sony camera eventually and went for the Black Magic Pocket Camera in 2020. However this post is about grading Sony L ..read more

Before & After Grades

Hello! I’ve been doing grades on my Macbook Pro to test it out this week and it works pretty well even though the screen is only 14′. It’s interesting how accurate the colors are on the retina screen. Here are some before and after grades of footage I shot and graded last week. In the comparison pictures you’ll see a base grade turned into a look. Quite subtle looks that is slightly more pushed and stylized than the rec.709. It is so easy to push the footage too far when you have the room. As for now I enjoy doing color correction work more than heavy grades. But that will mostly likely cha ..read more

Re-grade of REC.709 footage.

I recently re-graded a bunch of REC.709 footage to make a new video reel for my company that showcases some video work from the past year. All videos had various looks burned-in so I tried to make the clips match or at least be compatible with each other. This is what I came up with. It’s a mashup with mostly personal projects and travel films. I think it’s fun to just play around and not take color grading too seriously. That’s when I enjoy it the most. It is interesting to do a re-grade onto already color graded rec.709 footage. The footage easily breaks but if you push it gently it can hold ..read more
