I have a highly optioned 56 Super 88 convertable and wonder if there is anywhere I can find production numbers including accessories. I've found that 9561, 1956 Super 88 Convertible's were produced but nothing about numbers built with accessories. I know that factory Air is rare and that would lower the number produced significantly but how many cars were delivered with every factory option? The car has Factory Air, PS, PB, PW, 6 way power seat, Wonderbar radio, Power antenna, Electric Clock, Padded Dash, Autronic eye, Traffic viewer, Tinted glass, Twin mirrors, Deluxe interior, Two tone ..read more

Since I finally have my 66 Toro back I'd like to swap out the old AM radio for the rebuild AM/FM WB radio I acquired some time ago. Based on my research the process is:
1. Remove the two bolts from the steering column and drop the steering wheel.
2. Remove screws for the dash bezel and pull dash forward while being careful of wire/vacuum connections.
3. Remove connections/screws for old radio and remove.
4. Install new radio and reinstall everything.
Does this sound right? Anything else I should be careful of? Also is this better to do with a second pair of hand ..read more

On the 70 442 Rally Temp Gage there are marks on the gage. One next to the C, one at 1/4, one at 1/2, one at 3/4 and one at H. What is the temperature associated with each mark? My 442 runs at the 1/4 mark in town and gets up to the 1/2 mark on the interstate running 70MPH. What does your car show ..read more

Recently purchased a really nice 58 Olds Super 88. The negative battery cable has been replaced with a modern cable attached only to the engine. I have what I believe is a correct reproduction flat braided negative battery cable which has an additional boss along the length of the cable suggesting it is attached at a 2nd location in addition to the engine block. The parts & service manuals I have do not show the negative battery cable routing. Looking for suggestions on where this attaches as I'm wondering if the same cable serves as the body to engine ground strap. The car does not have a ..read more

So this evening I decided to take the Toro out for a spin. In first gear she seems to slip a bit and then she started making a whining noise under acceleration but it would quiet down in second gear. When I got back she seems to whine even in neutral but not quite in park. She was fine just last week with no issues. Fluid seems topped off but perhaps a bit thin? Whats going on ..read more

So it appears that my original vacuum lines have finally started to either leak or fall apart. Not bad for 57 years! In any case I'm looking for the following:
Brake booster vacuum line (correctly marked-currently using a NAPA replacement fuel line of the same diameter as a stop-gap measure)
Climate control vacuum lines (these along with others appear to be color coded. Does anyone make these?)
Factory correct vacuum hose clamps
If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful ..read more
