Day 676 since you know what… Sunday December 31, 2023 First let’s start with my 2023 resolutions I wrote back on My Forgotten Hobby VI. First resolution: I won’t be buying another model kit in 2023, Pro Modeler Curtiss Helldiver SB2C-4 being the last one bought in 2022. Not kept since I have added three […]

Day 458 Saturday 27 May 2023 This isn’t Friday June 2, 2023… No it’s not. I have decided to go back on a daily basis at least for now. This is how I had left you yesterday probably scratching your head. Writing such a long post might be detrimental to losing my loyal readers. With […]

Day 55
I am still using my homemade light blue and homemade thinner on the USS Saratoga.
Deciding which color to use isn’t easy. This is the Saratoga leaving Pearl Harbor circa June – July 1942.
USS Saratoga (CV-3) alongside Naval Air Station, Ford Island, in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii, circa June–July 1942. Her original 8″ guns and mounts had been removed in January that year, at Pearl Harbor, just after she was torpedoed off Hawaii on 11th January. She was rebuilt at PSNS with 5″/38s in twin mounts, and returned to active duty on 22 May 1942. Both her 8″ guns and tho ..read more

Lest we forget Day 56
As you can see I have started painting the Albion fuel bowser using the paint provided by Airfix.
The acrylic paints in tiny jars work fine even if they are hard to open.
I have painted the figurines using two colors for now: RAF blue and light khaki. More details will be added to the figurines later.
There is no indication on how to paint the frame. I have found these two video which are quite useful ..read more

Lest we forget Day 63 Not quite there yet. I have completed the assembly Tuesday morning by cementing the booms. Again instructions had to be followed carefully and some parts didn’t seem to fit. I should have checked Plane Dave’s rendition of his Albion fuel bowser. https://planedave.net/2020/04/30/albion-am463/amp/ I am sure I would have understood the […]

This is how I had left my loyal readers on My Forgotten Hobby IV. Progress was made Friday with these two steps. Precision fitting is crucial with assembling the Albion fuel bowser. Some parts are very thin and part D13 was quite fragile. . Fitting the fuel bowser cab needed […]

Day 59
This is how I left my workstation Thursday night.
That’s the little more I was talking about on Friday morning.
I experimented with homemade sky for the PBY Catalina and the shade didn’t come how I thought it would.
Win some, lose some…
The mechanics are again working feverishly on the fuel bowser.
They had completed and painted the Bedford MWD light truck. They are working on the right door making sure everything is plumb.
With these last images I have now reached my 3 gigabytes upload limit on My Forgotten Hobby IV…
