Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 — 4:47PM (EST) Oh what it feels like to be a 20 year old. To be honest I don’t know yet… as I write this I am living my last day as a teenager. Tomorrow I will officially, no longer be allowed to use that excuse in life. Society and the people around me will expect me to change over night to be the “average 20 year old—student” I am not that. I don’t think I will be tomorrow. I’m glad it’s a nice day out though and I’ve been able to enjoy the weather and get some blog work done. Thursday, June 24th, 2021 — 8:54AM (EST) Reality is starting to set in. I’m going to be 30 i ..read more

The Reality of Graduating High School in Canada
The Existentialist Blog

Everyone’s high school experience is different. Some of us graduate early, some of us late and the rest graduate right on time… that’s how it goes right? What if that was all wrong…? There’s so many expectations on us to graduate on time despite the education system lacking. The pressure is on us (Canadians) young as 4 years old to get up at 6 or 7AM and run into a classroom filled with others kids we don’t know anything about -to do tasks that we may not even enjoy doing- let alone help us develop skills we need as adults to survive the world that we’ve built as a society. Ever heard the sayi ..read more

A lot of things have changed, if it isn’t obvious enough from my lack of posting. I have so many drafts saved yet none of them are ready to be published. Speaking of changes… the website host, WordPress has been doing a hell of a job with JetPack on updating the mobile app. Making it ..read more

Three years ago now I launched The Existentialist website, what I like to call my online art portal and still do. It started out as a beginners blog with a basic layout, but it’s not just a blog to me anymore. I’ve been making more of my art behind the scenes and have been redesigning ..read more

The written piece below is a first draft of a future chapter in a novel I’m writing. I aim to publish for fall of 2023, depending on how things go maybe sooner, probably later. I want to make sure this story is written how it should be, not how I want it to be. For more information on my novels in the works check out this post here. Please feel free to leave comments on what you think, share it with your people! Anything helps Enjoy the read… The stank of the sewer water flowing under the bridge stimulated my senses more than this coffee. My fingers held onto the plastic cup, a few droplets o ..read more

The Beginning to The End
The Existentialist Blog

In two months time we’ll be in the year of 2023. That is something we all take for granted, thinking we will be around for another year. Regardless, the last two months of anything feel like the beginning to the end. A lot of people are starting new jobs, meeting new people, cutting ties with others and one of the biggest changes you could face in life, moving. We are all moving somewhere, either towards or away. Humans don’t like being still for too long, it’s not our nature. I thought of writing this because of the guilt I’ve been feeling lately, the guilt of not posting to my blog everyday ..read more

Existential Threats

Climate change, civil warfare and overpopulation. Of course there’s more than those three, but they are the ones that come to my mind the most. There’s so many existential threats that we all have to live with right now. Choosing just three to talk about seemed like too much, especially the three I chose. Where do you get your food from? Climate change will change all of that, if it hasn’t already. The weather is likely changing where you get your food from. How, or when you get it will change also. Your local superstore won’t have the freshest produce anymore because its being shipped from fu ..read more

Religion… in a nutshell.
The Existentialist Blog

Trigger warning: this post is blunt and biased. Read at your own risk. I’ve started to conclude that people who are heavily religious rather trust and believe in something other then themself. Simple as that. They do not want to carry responsibility for their own life, or not all of it at least. The more religious a person is, the less they seem to be responsible for any bad/good thing to happen in their life. My slim evidence of this is, when good things happen they believe “it’s God, It’s a miracle” but when it’s bad they think of the devil. They never think “it might be me. I might play a p ..read more

‘Long Time No See’

There are so many questions in life and about it that we won’t have answers to. It’s been a while since I’ve posted because I’ve played this game with myself, and my life chasing down answers I’ll never get. Focusing to live in the present moment can distract us sometimes. Especially when the present moment isn’t what we want, or doesn’t feel good to us. “Live and learn” My mother said this to me repeatedly, in good or bad situations. Growing up this has stuck with me, no matter what the situation is, you are living it. No matter what the situation is, you will learn from it. A lot of people ..read more

Do You Mind The Mind?
The Existentialist Blog
by emriyus

The past month or so has been a blast, I don’t want to believe it’s May…. almost half the year is gone. Another part of me does want to believe that we are halfway through the year, not even six months in yet and most people I talk to are already wanting the new year to start. This idea that our minds work, work, work, to please the tiny little hands on the clock (time), we live a lot of our lives on default because being mindful of our own mind is a definition of too much work; but it’s necessary work. If you take a minute to write down, or list in your head all the things you can remember yo ..read more
