I am a part of a homeschool co-op with a few other families and the Mom’s would rotate teaching. After a while I was interested in taking on the teaching and the other Moms were happy to have me take it on. I’ve started implementing CM methods into what we are doing. We did picture study and composer study recently.   Perhaps starting a co op would be a good place to start, or would help you to know if other families are interested in your area ..read more

Hello, I am new to the CM style of learning and this has been the first year we have completed using this method of learning ( 2023-2024 school year). Overall, it has been a wonderful switch for us. I have loved that we can learn and not have to use textbooks but can enjoy living books instead! I am still pondering through Math though and the amount of time and investment needed from the mother/teacher. I used the SCM Arithmetic with my two older kids this year and it was a very successful math year. My son was not able to successfully complete the traditional math worksheets in previous years ..read more

We are coming up on going through Early Modern and Epistles again and I realized that my guide is incredibly old and some of the books have been changed. I also notice that Stories of the Us looks like it has been changed. I’d like to buy the updated guide when it’s available. Should I also change out the Stories of the US and the Nations for the newer books? I’ve been out of the loop and if anyone can shed light on these changes, I’d love to know more. We loved this guide when we went through it years ago. Thanks ..read more

Here are a few thoughts. I’ll try to come back later with more time too;) If I’m up on vitimins and have no newborn I get up 1/2 to 1 hr ahead of kids to pray read Bible, do laundry and/or plan. <p style=”text-align: left;”>It works best for me to plan once a week like Friday afternoon or Sunday afternoon.</p> We don’t always get to bed early either. I try to get everyone up at the same time daily (7 am here but sometimes 7:30) and we have a morning routine that starts then. We limit outside activities other then church and playing/ working with cousins and visiting family that is ..read more

Hi, Thank you for reaching out with your question! One consideration for your high schooler is that in the U.S. students need credit in American History and World History for their high school transcript. With SCM’s history/Bible/geography guides, students get their credit for these courses in history by completing the “Early Modern & Epistles” and “Modern Times & Epistles, Revelation” guides. We always encourage you to check your state’s specific requirements for high school as well when making curriculum choices to ensure that they will have the required number of credits in each sub ..read more
