All of my 2s and 3s matched in the past 3 days have had players that are wildly inexperienced, its almost not even fun to win against them and its even worse to play with them. I want to improve and i've had a few games where I've basically won 1v2 but its becoming so tedious. I get that that the matches might take longer to find but I really would prefer a strict matchmaking for people my rank and experience. I am gold 2-3 and playing with silver 1 or no rank level 5 players is just not fun in ranked right now. The game puts a no ranked player way to high to start with.

I normally try to fight against the Mongol tower rushes with workers until I can get to Feudal and get an archer out. But I often lose 2-4 workers in the process.
Is is better to just let the first tower get up and save the workers? But then you lose access to a critical resource and taking it back is often really hard.

Cant pressure them, all resources are under TC or Kremlin. Can’t FC, as soon as I age up their army storms my base. Forget about 2tc, their knights do too much damage. I can make units and just defend my base, but then they age up before me and get their upgrades in first. What is the strategy here?
I float between high gold/low plat, and typically play JD, Byzantines or English

Curious to know if I'm a weirdo or if this is what other people do.
I tend to try and get some games in before work in the morning but as it's early I always practice various openers vs AI. If I feel fine I'll then go ranked. If I feel like I'm quite sluggish I might leave it or try 1 quick match and then go ranked if I've woken up. In general though if I still feel sluggish I won't bother with ranked till the next day.
Anyone else do something similar? I will say this approach has significantly improved my gameplay and has been a big contributor to hitting conq2 more consistently.

Recently I found out that Foriegn Engineering Company provides all special upgrades for mercenary units. The value of Palatine School is cool as well as there are always a lot of limitanei and varangians, but is it enough to compensate on these special upgrades? So 2 questions - is this bonus worth for every contract and which one do u think might be the best? - should work on market units too I guess, so how about these units?
Still dreaming of viable Byz Zhuge Nus^

Is it me or the AI just cant attack properly even when it has quite an army. It sends it on a parade and many times turn around or depart a small part to continue attack.
But sometimes when I am lucky to have better game, it even breaks some defenses but then fails to reinforce and its push fails resulting in mustering new army for another long period of time, in which I can rebuild my defense.
This happens on Hardest difficulty and boost of resource gathering levels dont help it.
Can something be done about this?
