Paris is one of those places we have visited at every age and every stage with our three kids. The first time we visited Paris with kids they were ages 2, 5, and 7. On our most recent visit our kids were ages 8, 11, and 13. A lot of what we like to do is just wander neighborhoods and explore and eat food that looks good! But, here are a few specific tips and ideas for touristy things and tours you might want to check out on your next visit! Also, we always recommend checking out the Paris resources provided by our friend Zoe, a tour guide in Paris, who also has a great self-guided tour on her ..read more

Kid's Travel Backpack Checklist

When our kids were little we usually packed their backpacks for them or carried supplies for them in our own backpacks. Now that they are older our kids love to pack their own travel backpacks. We usually start having them help with their backpacks around age 6, or once they have started kindergarten. They can carry a small backpack before then, but usually it doesn’t have anything important or necessary for the plane just in case it gets lost (queue the time in the Copenhagen airport when our five year old left her backpack with her Kindle in it somewhere and we never found it before the flig ..read more

Want to involve your kids in preparing for a trip? One of our favorite ways to help our kids learn how to pack is to use a visual packing list. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed down and cancelled most our travel last year, but as our state (Utah) opened up, along with other states nearby, we decided to dip our toes back into traveling and take a road trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. We picked South Dakota because we wanted to go somewhere we knew wouldn’t be very crowded (we went in May, which is still off-season in South Dakota) and we wanted to go somewhere with a lot of outdoor activities. We knew that South Dakota has a lot of state and national parks that were open for visitors, so it seemed like the perfect spot. We thought ..read more

If you are a family that likes to travel, like us, then the recent coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) has probably left you wondering what to do about upcoming travel plans. Lots of families we talk to are wondering how to handle spring break plans or if they should keep their upcoming plans or reschedule. We thought it would be helpful if we put together some suggestions for other families to think through as they assess what to do ab ..read more

If you followed along on our Japan trip last year on Instagram you know what a soft spot I have in my heart for Japan! I lived there when I was in middle school for three years and I’ve been dreaming about taking my family back. We finally had the chance to go in 2019 for Spring Break and we timed it perfectly for the cherry blossom season! We even met up with some of our friends (who are currently living in Singapore) at the beginning of the trip and all of the kids had the best time playing together and exploring. This is a look at our itinerary. It was not a perfectly planned trip, and we d ..read more
