I have a question for those who speak English fairly well. Do you have any tips for speaking English? How did you learn phonics, how to distinguish between L and R, and how did you learn grammar?
Please tell me!

Hi guys,
I have a question based on languages. To provide context, nearly every word in polish is spelled how it’s pronounced. E.g it doesn’t have any silent letters.
I am fluent in polish when it comes to speaking, it is my mother tongue and I speak it at home. My spelling isn’t horrible although I want to improve it and I’m curious if there’s any way to learn, and or memorise the letter combinations.
For example: dz,dź,dż,rz,szcz.
These are all sound based therefore I’m curious if I can apply any memory techniques.

Would be to use AnkiApp (50 words x4 times a day) by chunking the foreign word and it’s translation as images. Even if I forget 30-50% of the words, spaced repetition would practically guarantee that ill remember retain 100% over time.
Memorizing an entire dictionary alphabetically. I have no idea how this would work, using memory palaces to learn the words seems even more tedious than rote learning them (and its not even rote if you can memorize 70% of the vocab basically first try), the vocabulary needs to be ‘motoric’, not linear imo.
The former system seems much more effective and effici ..read more

Hello everyone! I’m new and I post this topic because I read the free ebook… My goal is very simple to explain:I want to learn 2000 words in English. I don’t know how do it and how many time is required. I have been studying English for 1 month and I have already achieved good results, for the moment I mean grammar. I think it will be easy to understand my topic even if my grammar is not perfect. I had a bad approach to learn new language but now I know how to improve. For the moment I can’t focus about speacking skill because I want to do a exam that required a b1 level of English grammar. It ..read more

Today and yesterday, I memorized around 300 Italian words. I didn’t use the method of loci; instead, I connected each Italian word with its German equivalent (I am Swiss). These images are simply sitting in a white room without any specific locations. Is this an effective way to memorize a large number of words, or should I consider using the method of loci?

I have made lists of a few words each. The words are German nouns. A small list either uses the neuter gender for it’s nouns (and ascending alphabetical ordering) or a small word list uses only feminine words in descending order.
If I can remember the list then sort order tells me the gender.
I did this with common 5 letters or less words.
Then I did a fresh listing exercise like that for singular words which end in el, er or en.
For the length 5 or under lists, if I am thinking a word of say 4 letters but it is not in any list then it is probably masculine.
I used a linked list approach to pr ..read more
