The Health Benefits of Vacation
SCHEDULE NOW
The power of vacation
2020 has thrown a lot at us: a pandemic, fires, a stressful election.... and most of us have been more anxious this year.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation Health Tracking Polls monthly, 53 percent of adults said that "worry and stress" related to the pandemic have negatively affected their mental health.
And for many Americans, one big factor in managing mental health is travel - something many of us don't feel comfortable doing yet. In fact, according to a July LinkedIn survey, two-thirds of people are not plannin ..read more

What's The Best Sleeping Position?
One of the most important conversations I have with my patients is asking them how they sleep. Sleeping is something we all do and on the face of it, seems pretty simple. But in fact, it's pretty easy to screw up. The position we spend eight hours in can lead to problems such as neck and back pain, headaches, increased chance of dementia, even wrinkles. Therefore, it's important to take it seriously and make the changes to sleep in your best position.

Do You Have A Leaky Gut?
My body never completely bounced back after I had my second child, Camila. She was a preemie and in order to develop her lungs, they gave me steroids. In addition, there was a ton of stress involved with having a preemie. I started to develop symptoms I had never had before: digestive problems, joint pain, headaches, severe insomnia, even mild-grade depression. Many moms I know suffer the same ailments, or worse. I figured once my daughter was older, I would start to feel more like myself, but as time went on, my symptoms didn't improve.

Functional Medicine Can Help Heal Long Covid
Long COVID is extremely complex and many people are struggling to recover their health. Our Functional Medicine approach is designed to help you heal.
What is Long Covid?
Long COVID is a term to describe the effects of COVID-19 that continue for weeks or months beyond the initial illness. What Exactly Is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine focuses on the getting to the root cause of your issues rather than just focusing on symptoms.
Functional Medicine is a lab based system of analysis that relies primarily on natural health solutions. Functional medicine doctors run tests to determine the problems, and then prescribe natural health treatments like, diet, meditation, exercise, and often nutritional supplements. We strive to find organ dysfunction prior to the onset of a disease process and restore "Function" back.
As a Functional Medicine doctor, I look at nutrition, t ..read more

COVID Update & How To
Teach Your Kids About Food
Great news!
We're excited to announce that Dr. Kimi, Nicole, Fernando, CMT, Hummingbird, CMT and I are fortunate enough to be fully vaccinated. We all received our second doses more than three weeks ago. While that doesn't absolutely assure zero transmission, it certainly makes the environment safer and puts many of our minds at ease. That said, we of course will continue to be extremely careful using masks, air filters, temperature checks, social distancing with other patients and wiping down all surfaces regularly.

Core Strengthening
Core strengthening exercises are some of our favorite to incorporate into any home program. We find that it is essential to build up the core to avoid injury (i.e. low back pain) and support an ideal posture. This year in particular, it is likely that you are spending more time than usual sitting at a desk for most of the day. Typically, poor posture from sitting comes from a lack of core engagement and improper work station ergonomics. Try using an exercise ball to sit on instead of a desk chair to promote the use of your core. We also suggest trying out ..read more

How To Detox Your Body After Smoke Exposure
For many of us on the west coast, smoke inhalation has been unavoidable during the last month. Even if we stay indoors, and run a HEPA air filter, breathing in particulate matter is unavoidable. Detoxing after smoke exposure is essential to your long-term and short term health. Here are some tips to help support your health during this time of increased smoke exposure:
Drink a lot of water. Wildfire smoke inhalation causes microscopic particles to get trapped in your lungs. They can get into your bloodstream and travel throughout your body ..read more
