Pioneer PL-300 Auto Return adjustment

I recently purchased a pioneer pl-300 direct drive turntable. I took it apart and cleaned and re-lubed everything that needed to be done. It was working with no issues, just very dirty. After reassembling it the auto return did not work. The needle would follow the groove and just keep riding. I adjusted the lift height and was going to adjust the auto return position next. I was told to remove the rubber plug and there would be a brass screw under it to do the adjustment. There is nothing... Read more ..read more

I have a "moderate" system of separates: Marantz pre-pro; ATI 5-channel amp; Axiom M-80 mains; Technics sl-100c. I have no intention of upgrading to MC cartridges and currently use AT vm540ml, Ortofon Super OM20 and vintage Pickering xv15-750e. I would like to upgrade/update my aging phono preamp. Research and budget have me leaning to three options: 1. Spartan 15 2. Darlington Labs MM-6B 3. Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 SE I have an eclectic musical interest including classic rock; folk... Sleeve for coil spring

I'm fixing up a Pioneer PL-500 turntable and the foam/rubber sleeve for the coil springs are shot. What do people use to replace this? I was looking at some 1/16 inch foam sheets from mcmaster carr, but was wondering if there is a better solution. The coils have about a 1" OD and I can't find any 1" ID tubing that has sufficiently thin walls. If I could find a material that is similar to 1" heat shrink tubing (but without shrinking if heat were applied) that would work great. Thoughts... Read more ..read more

Good day to all. I am a big Pioneer TT fan and I’ve noticed something over the last year or so. I have 2 Pioneer PL 550 tables, one fully restored and one recently purchased and will be getting a reveneer and mechanical restoration too. Both I was able to get for under $400.00. I have noticed as of late the prices of Pioneer tables has been all over the place. Restored like I have I’ve seen as much as 1400-1800 dollars. I’m thinking that purchase one do a restoration and sell, repeat... Read more ..read more

Hello all, Trying to help out a coworker with a Technics SL-D205 turntable that has no counterweight. Ebay has no listings for that particular model. Is there another model that used the same counterweight? By internet pictures it looks like it went up to 3 grams. I see one on ebay for Technics sl-B202 which is all black instead of black and chrome like the D205. Is the designation "D" for drive and "B" for belt? Thanks ..read more

Why the hell is the SL-1200 so hard to take apart? (Warning! Rant!)

Warning! This is a bit of a rant, view it at your discretion I love the Technics 1200, I really do. However, I do not love repairing it. It is such a pain in the keister to take apart the damn thing for a few reasons - you have to flip it over to access everything. Luckily I have a beanbag, but even so, it's still a harrowing process, even without the stylus attached. - there are a gazillion screws you have to remove, and some of them are very similar to one another. - The fact that the... ReVox B790 Turntable - Workaround for lost Motor Shims

Preface * This is a supplement to the earlier report "ReVox B790 Turntable - Motor Servicing Hints & Lessons Learned", where it was stated "Unless you really need to, try to avoid removing the whole motor from the top chassis. Pulling out the full motor risks losing one or more of the 6 thin spacer shims between motor and chassis, furthermore these thin spacer shims are frustrating to reinstall - as I found out the hard way." * The motor/chassis thin spacer shims are... Dual 701 Turntable Reassembly Issue

I disassembled my 701 to clean and lubricate the motor shaft and bearings on the sub platter. When I re-assembled, the turntable is now in a constant return cycle (the cam gear keeps turning). Also the tonearm is not moving correctly at all. I was pretty careful, and I'm confident that I have the ball bearing back in place correctly - and that the cam follower is in the right place. I don't know what is wrong. I have stared at the mechanism and looked at my photos and read other posts... Read more ..read more
