My son (13) saved up to buy a small laser (omtech polar). He showed me some things he wants to get for it and one of those is "laser mask". Which looks a lot like transfer tape from the pictures/videos i have seen. I have no problem buying him the right stuff to use, just figured i would ask if it is basically the same stuff? or if there is any reason you couldn't just use transfer tape? Check this out. My new laser cutter cuts lettering to depth into 15lb HDU and then cuts it out. No more sandblasting for me! This took 2 or 3 minutes to cut. It's about 6" x 3.5". I'm still figuring out how to use the laser but it shows great promise as a sign making tool. Adrian ..read more

Hi, this is my first post. We have a laser cutter/engraver (Universal pls6mw) and also several mimaki printers that we use to print logos on promo items. Ive been using the laser machine to cut jigs to hold the units in place on the printers. the only issue im having is that the jigs i am cutting dont seem to align up perfectly with the printers. e.g. a logo printed on a unit at the bottom of the jig will be about .03 inches to the right of a logo printed on a unit placed at the top of the... Our sign shop is looking at purchasing a Gerber Sabre 408, we just recently purchased the Ion X and are now looking to branch out even more.
