Folk rock haul at the mall

My love for John Wesley Harding is kind of what actually makes me a bit of a Dylan-head beyond just liking his protest, electric, and Rolling Thunder era work. The stripped back sound is really groundbreaking in its own way and probably had a big effect on a lot of country rock artists. His writing is so subtly brilliant on it, All Along the Watchtower not even necessarily included in that assertion. It's a dark deeply ironic album full of contradictions in theology and American folk culture. In a way he does return to his original protest format but they seem like deconstructions. Started collection during lockdown and have been digging through crates every now and then, buying online, or just thrifting. I’ve completed some discographies and am still working on others of my favorite artists. Gotta admit this is one expensive hobby, but I do enjoy sitting in my living room and spinning a record or two on weekend mornings with my coffee. submitted by /u/samurai_nixon [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am just posting some stuff I don’t see on here already. I was genuinely surprised to see this album hasn’t been posted. Talked about some but really? Maybe I just suck at the search function. Casey had a hell of a run in the 70’s. This shit was everywhere when I was a kid but as an adult I have to say this album is really, REALLY, well done. From musicianship, production, writing, it’s all just wow. From Wikipedia: KC and the Sunshine Band is the second studio album by KC and the Sunshine Band. The record was produced by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch and was released in July 1975 ..read more

My wife and I planned a trip to Austin TX and she surprised me with a visitor to this conversion. All I can say is, it was sensory overload for sure. Vendors were fantastic and all the stuff I picked up was in really great shape and prices were more than reasonable. I will definitely be making the 6 hour drive to the next one. submitted by /u/TJ318Brown [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I own one bootleg/unofficial album (this is it). What’s your stance on if/when it’s ok to Boot.

I’m not really a bootleg guy. As mentioned above this is the only one in my collection. I picked it up knowing that the album was not currently available and that the band and the label are locked in a battle meaning there is slim to no chance we see a reissue. The “OG” copy goes for $400+ CAD and is known to not be a great pressing. So for now I have this copy. What’s your take/stance on “unofficial” albums? submitted by /u/TheArtofWax [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
