This CVE says that Exim <4.97 may be vulnerable to SMTP smuggling https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-51766 My up-to-date cPanel 110.0.17 (LTS) is using Exim 4.96.2-1.cp108~el7. I don't know what newer cPanel versions are using, but in any case, do we need to worry? (And if so, who can prod cPanel to update?) What's SMTP smugging? Fighting SEMrushBot

I've been fighting a battle with SEMrushBot creating hundreds of over usage problems since December 4th. I never had a problem with it before.(It's possible it only found my site on December 4th but I have my doubts.) SEMrushBot hits a 403 error from an IP block while trying to directly access a stored URL (a URL with a forbidden Query String that would throw a 403 even if the IP wasn't already blocked). But it still (apparently) triggers processes in the executable it's trying to... Fighting SEMrushBot ..read more

I got a VPS a few days ago and I'm getting a couple of emails a day from the server relating to cron jobs for cPanel/Softaculous updates. The emails are being sent to my gmail account, which I have registered as the contact address for the server (so I can still be reached if the server is down). I have a couple of questions: 1 - The cron daemon is sending it's emails with both the from and to fields set as the server (root@servename.mydomain.com). The Softaculous update log email is... cPanel, softaculous, cron status emails ..read more

Large backups to S3

Hi there! I previously used a script I wrote with the help of some others on the forum to run backups and then upload them to S3, recently I had the backup file for my own domain start failing to transfer to S3 because it has gotten fairly large (over 13GB). Sometimes it would transfer and other times it wouldn't. A few years back cPanel added the ability to transfer backups to S3 as well however I knew it wouldn't work very well at the point so after my own backups started failing to... Hi Guys, I just open EXIM configuration, and at this picture: I just want to ask, what is difference between allow DKIM verification but then not reject it (option below set to off like default) and not doing DKIM verification for incoming message ? My goal is still can receive all incoming messages, regardless mail attribute (invalid/missing/fail DKIM check). Because marketing division prefer receive all incoming mail regardless the attribute. DNS settings for domain, email and site

I am trying to work out the best practice for DNS settings for some domains of mine. Let's take an example. I have ubertape.co.uk registered at Dynadot. The site is hosted here at KnownHost. Currently, the domain has a DNS setting with the nameservers using another domain of mine, jon7.com. This other domain is hosted at namsilo. So, the nameservers are ns1.jon7.com and ns2.jon7.com. This brings up a few questions. Is it going to cause problems with SPF, DKIM or DMARC? Should I be using... DNS settings for domain, email and site ..read more

Dear, I have setup EXIM on ACL set to do DKIM check and reject it when invalid on incoming email, but lately I got complaint from several people that said their email not coming from client, and after i check sender addresses it's lack or don't have DKIM. So in order i can receive this kind of email, what should I must do beside disable DKIM checking or just still accept email even DKIM invalid (on below option of checking DKIM in EXIM). Do forwarding addresses bypass DKIM checking ? I... DKIM check on email forwarding addresses ..read more

I see the litespeed and cache options available for the VPS packages. What I would like to know is what performance improvement they bring to page load times and site performance. Is there any data available on this? Would it make my Google PageSpeed rating go through the roof? How do you decide between a higher powered VPS package and litespeed ..read more
