Who would have thought that two years into the COVID pandemic we would still be wearing masks and being concerned with exposure to the virus? But that is where we find ourselves!  We are updating our safety procedures around the B&B concerning COVID.  We are still requiring any unvaccinated guests to wear a mask in ALL common areas of the B&B. Even vaccinated guests are encouraged to wear masks if that helps them feel more comfortable. Our breakfast service is somewhat modified. For all unvaccinated guests, a breakfast tray will be brought to the door of your room. Coffee se ..read more

Pennsylvania has ended its “state of emergency” concerning COVID!  That means that area restaurants can now serve at full capacity, museums and shops are open again, and events in our area are in full swing again!  It’s been quite a year that all of us will remember and hope to not experience again in our lives! We have updated our COVID requirements and restrictions – still in accordance with PA’s and the CDC’s guidelines. Simply put, if you are fully vaccinated (+ two weeks after the shot(s)), you do not need to wear a mask.  If you are not vaccinated, a mask is required in a ..read more

As we all become more and more “connected” and attached to our phones, laptops, iPads, iPods, and tablets we really need to “unplug,” relax, and “bathe in the forest.” The Japanese people have developed an overall preventive health practice called “Shinrin-yoku“. The term literally means “taking in the forest atmosphere” or “forest bathing.”  It  developed in the 1980s and has become more widely known as one of the best methods to de-stress, lower your blood pressure, and just be more healthy.  The steps or instructions for “forest bathing” are very simple. Our new “little” B&B has now been open for five years. When we designed the changes and remodeled this house, we were very pleased with how everything turned-out.  After four years, we are ready to make a few “refreshes” and additions. It is our hope that our guests will enjoy the changes and appreciate the additional conveniences. In my most recent blog, I explained the additional convenience of the new guest laundry. The washer and dryer are not large but they can “do the job” for small loads of laundry. Within the past week we moved furniture in the Oak Room. Prior to the furnitur ..read more

We continue trying to add amenities or services that guests request or need. We are receiving more and more requests for extended-stay reservations.  These reservation requests come from families of students at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB), employees of Deloitte, Sunoco-related staff, and traveling nurses or physical therapists. One question that is always asked is “are there guest laundry facilities”? We can now say, “YES” to that question! Our previous “sorry, no” response was sometimes a “deal breaker” on the longer-term stay reservations. But recently we added an apar ..read more

Many Americans start each New Year with resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, or maybe quit smoking. And the average time these resolutions are kept is just about one month. In 2018, make a resolution to be kind to yourself while making changes in your life. Jae Berman, a registered dietician and personal trainer, has some suggestions to help you make your resolutions work this year.
