Last week in my Summer Kids Yoga Program called “Adventure Club”, we made Pom Pom Monsters! To prepare for doing this craft in class, I experimented with my own kids at home. They spent a good 45 minutes creating various monsters with different expressions, and then asked to do more the next day… and again the next! They’ve created about 80 different monsters on their own and with friends over the past month. So, I knew it would be a guaranteed hit in my class. The materials are inexpensive and it doesn’t make too much of a mess! Materials: Pom Poms (extra large for body and smaller ones to g ..read more

Introduction This yoga game is fun for all ages! It can be played alone, with a partner or a whole group! It teaches gross motor and fine motor skills, balance, coordination and growth mindset. We tend to focus a lot on gripping with our hands, such as pincher’s or pencil grip. However, we rarely develop the same abilities with our feet! Learning about foot fitness improves your ability to walk, run, jump and balance. My daughter has been playing this game with me since she was a toddler. After filming this video she said, “You know, I play this game all the time in my room now; Except, instea ..read more

Family-Friendly, Kid-Friendly Barre Routine Embody gratitude for friendship through simple ballet and yoga-inspired movements that symbolize the act of giving and receiving. It will get your heart pumping and fill it with joy! The Golden Girls theme song “Thank You for Being a Friend” has been one of my favorite songs since I was Ariana’s age. Yoga Brain Break for Halloween and Fall Join my kiddos and their “pod” for a 12 min. Yoga Break inspired by “Little Boo” by Stephen Wunderli. It’s a story about an impatient little pumpkin seed who can’t wait to grow up to be big and scary! We begin with Ghost Breath, where kids are challenged to make spooky ghost sounds for as long as possible. The trick is that it triggers the parasympathetic nervous system, which naturally calms the body. Kids think it’s fun, but the treat is your kids will be calm and ready to learn by the time you’re done! (mwah-ha-ha-haaa) Anothe ..read more
