Crawl Space Encapsulation Highlight - "CleanSpace Liner" (Vapor/Moisture Barrier) Before and After of a "CleanSpace" Vapor Barrier Installation What Does "Crawl Space Encapsulation" Mean?  The definition of encapsulation is: "the action of enclosing something in or as if in a capsule." The problem with most crawl spaces is that they have vents that allow outside air to get into it. Why is this a problem? Because of the vents allowing outside air to enter the crawl space, it opens the door for many variables including rising energy costs, pests, mold, allergens and rot. Wouldn't it be a ..read more

Before finding us, the owner of this home was convinced that he needed to replace his front door. He couldn't figure out why the door kept sticking and why it was so hard to open and close. He told us about a time when he had woken up one morning to find the door wide open because it wasn't closed properly the night before. He had even scheduled an appointment for a Door Contractor to give him a quote for replacing his door. The Door Contractor was nice enough to alert the homeowner to the fact that the problem was more than likely coming from his foundation.  ..read more

As we approach the last two months of the year, we reflect on what a challenging and eye opening year this has truly been for all. Each of us has had to change and adapt to the world around us and, in the process, have created a new "normal". This has happened not only in the world but also here at Foundation Repair of CA. While many saw only the despair, we took this as an opportunity to challenge ourselves to grow and make the new "normal" a better one. The owners and managers met and worked on this for many long hours, debating how best to represent our company and what we sta ..read more

Bridge Driveway Underpinning in Alamo, CA

According to the Soils Report that was done for this home, the bridge that served as the driveway for this home was experiencing an erosion of the soil near the grade beams that supported the wood columns that held up the bridge. This was due to a clogged drain inlet that caused the ravine beneath the bridge to flood for a long period of time. Most of the work we do involves installing push piers directly beneath the foundation of a home. Installing push piers to lift and stabilize a driveway bridge was something we had never encountered before.  ..read more

Are You and Your Pool Ready For Summer?

It may be a little bit too soon to swim, unless you're a savage who tells the weather to go kiss a place where the sun don't shine, but it is never too early to fix up your pool deck to be prepared for when you and your family want to take a dip in the pool.    I think about a PolyLevel job that we did in Danville a few years back. The home was owned by a couple in their early 60's. They had specifically bought their home because it had a pool, which was their way of getting their children and grandchildren to want to come over and visit them. The first year there was fun, but there ..read more
