7 Tips to Make the Process less Nerve-Wracking! Teaching your teenager how to drive can be both rewarding and stressful. As a parent, here are seven tips to make the process less nerve-wracking and more enjoyable: Let Them Take the First Step: Some teens are eager to get behind the wheel as soon as they’re legally allowed, while others may feel more hesitant. Instead of pushing them solely based on their age, allow them to decide when they’re ready. Whether it means waiting a few extra months or learning at a slower pace, giving your teen time to build confidence ..read more

All Ages Need Summer Plans! It's that time of year!! So many of us struggle to decide what our kids will do over summer break when we are still working! Although mine is 16 and hopefully will be partially employed, there are many other moms out there that need age-specific ideas to spark imagination and create fun, lifelong summer memories.  Here are some budget-friendly ideas for planning daycare and summer camps: YMCA Summer Camps: The YMCA offers over 1,400 day-camps nationwide. Prices vary by location and often cater to different income levels. They also ..read more

Time is a weird thing.... sometimes we want it to speed up, and sometimes we want it to slow down. When we are young, busy, and stressed, we want time to move forward to easier moments in the future. When we are older and the days seem to be flying by, we want time to slow down. Fables speak of a fountain of youth, and scientists spend billions of dollars searching to find ways to lengthen our time on this earth. Every night when we go to sleep, we fast forward to the next moments in time.... As working moms, we always wish we had more time in the day so we can balance our jobs a ..read more

New Working Mom Finds! It's pretty apparent us Working Moms enjoy wine! I have spent a long time studying wine, tasting wine, and truly appreciating it. I have said it before, it's like travel in a glass. The same grape varietal when planted in different terroirs will yield completely different wines. We are always in search of good wine that is both delicious and reasonably priced.  We came across some advertisements recently with Cameron Diaz drinking wine. We had no idea until paying a bit closer attention that she and her best friend Katherine Power created a company called Av ..read more

Parental Survival of the Lessons! We have all seen those bumper magnets on the back of cars. I always shake my head and quickly move away from those vehicles. Has anyone else seen those vehicles only to realize there is a single older person behind the wheel? They were either too lazy to remove the magnet, or they are just learning? Nah... it has to be the first scenario. I was shocked to find out that more kids today opt to wait a while before getting their driver's license.  American teens are less keen to get behind the wheel once they come of age. According to numbers from the F ..read more

Our Journey to a Virtual Charter School Our journey to a virtual school was a long one. It's definitely not for everyone. It takes a personality that can stay focused and be responsible. It also needs to be said that WHATEVER you decide to do as a parent, It's YOUR decision. Do what your gut tells you is best for your kid. Every situation is different.  Our Maggie has grumbled about school for as long as I can remember. She ALWAYS complained of having to sit still for hours and felt she wasn't learning anything. Kids go through so many changes as they grow both physically and emotio ..read more

How Much is Too Much?
The Working Mom

How much is too much? One could ask this question about many things when it comes to raising children. How much is too much freedom, discipline, material things, rules, pressure... and the list goes on. I think one of the areas this applies to the most in the technology age is screen time. It is such a different world now as compared to a mere 15-20 years ago when my kids were young. There was no concern when mine were 2 and 4 years old about how much time they were in front of a phone or an ipad because there were none! My daughters were born in 2000 and 2002. The first iphone came out in ..read more

Cat and Dogs LOVE these treats! Our furry friends deserve home cooked treats, just like we humans do. Forget those tasteless dog bones. Here is a 5-ingredient recipe that your fur baby will LOVE! The recipe below will typically yield 2 dozen meatballs that can be frozen once cooked. I usually double or triple the recipe and thaw a few at a time. These cooked treats also hide pills very well too. I break one in half and mush the halves back together.  Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet. 1-lb ground turkey 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (found canned in the ..read more
