Die-Cast hoops on Toms for more controller sound

Hello fellow drummers, I'm wondering if anybody has experience with dies-cast hoops on toms to get rid of nasty overtone sounds. With my Ludwig set, the resonant heads are currently ambassador clear and just changed Evans UV1 coated on the batter side. The UV1 coated made a slight difference - gives more warmer and controlled sound, though I can't get the 12" tom the sound I'm looking for. The question is, should I try only the batter side die-cast hoops or just go for it and buy both, batter and reso side? Mainly because I can't get rid of the ear penetrating overtone sounds on the 12" tom ..read more

Hello, I'm having a problem with clicks in playback mode and not in recording mode.l also have this problem also when I just open antelope orion control panel without open daw. My master unit is antelope orion studio synergy and I connected a focusrite Scarlett 18i20 1st gen to it via adat. I configured Scarlett sync on adat and sample rate to 48khz. I also configured antelope on 48khz. How come am I having this weird problem only in playback mode? Thanks ..read more

What drum software/sample packs for someone that hasn't felt with this sort of thing in ages!

I'm doing a silly surf punk recording project where I'm programming drums and really struggling to find something fitting. I'd downloaded SM Drums Ludwig kit which sounds amazing and has 2 rides which is ideal for what I'm after, it'd be perfect but despite it being sampled very thoroughly it's not been played very hard at it's loudest, and in particular the open hihat is mega weak. In short - can anyone recommend some decent software and or samples that would do a good old Surfy sounding kit being smashed really hard impression? Ideally without spending tons! Don't have to be the most pristi ..read more

Clearly we know what kind of cymbals i play I found out about the company from a drum Vlog on youtube Personally nothing ive heard is short of awesome https://royalcymbals.com ..read more

What's your secret to a perfect bass drum sound?

I've recently upgraded my kit, and I've been fiddling with my bass drum to get the exact sound I have in my head. I've just ordered an Evans Heavyweight EMAD skin for the batter (I'm gonna patch it too, I hit hard), but I'm looking for something really light to dampen the reso-head as well (I refuse to use a pillow). So what's your trick ..read more

Are there any percussionist here?

Will be nice to discuss about world percussion from audio point of view, mic preferences and mixing strategies. I play mainly african, afro-cuban and Yemenite music Attached are a picture of my percussion set and a video of me playing an arabic beat called Rumba Khaliji. https://youtube.com/shorts/UL8c28bEj...qE7yLUFuT0gb7h The thing about recording this set is the choice between over heads and general ambiance or close micing every instrument which can be tedious. Also I'm having a hard time making the close mic sound natural Nd pleasing. Any point of view from you guys will be nice. Att ..read more

24" Bass Drum Heads

Hey everyone, I bought a 12x24" Corders BD from Reverb a while ago and I've just been goofing on different muffling and such. I drilled a hole large enough for and XLR to use it with 2 full heads, but I'd like to talk about what heads people with 24s are using, with and without holes on the front. There are black dots on it now, and they do have a wooomp sustain and a pretty woody attack. They are coolish but not what I'm really looking for. I want a more modern, but still alternative to the 22" with a pillow and a hole in the front head that will still get used 98% of the time. Thanks ..read more

Just set up my Premiers with 12 and the 13 rack toms. Anybody rockin' two or more rack toms? Man, the ergo just screams for endless rolls and all sorts of malarkey compared to the usual 1 up, 1 down config that everybody plays now ..read more

NUX DM7X - How to fix cymbal sensor ?

If this isn't the appropriate place, please let me know and I'll remove the post. Context: I'm using the NUX DM7X electronic drum kit, primarily for practicing metal drumming at relatively high intensity. Recently, one of the cymbals stopped registering hits on the module. I noticed a metallic sound when shaking the cymbal, prompting me to investigate. I removed the cymbal from its arm and disassembled it to access the sensor area. Here's what I found: 1. A red cable was disconnected from the PCB board (marked with a yellow circle in the attached image). 2. There were cracks in the glue par ..read more
