The Price of Purpose

As this year winds down, and we quickly embark on the next, I am often inspired to reflect on the flow of the year, and lessons I have learned along the way. I cannot say these thoughts are yet complete, but I feel a stirring to share them, nonetheless. One such concept that tends to be a recurring theme, but has been especially highlighted for me in this year, has been the price of purpose. If you allow me to be philosophical for a moment, what is purpose? From the textbook definition, Oxford dictionary defines purpose as: the reason for which something is done or created or for which someth ..read more

Visionary Lessons on Capacity and Capability

With each season along this visionary journey, I start to understand more deeply some of the factors that influence the longevity and sustainability of my vision, dreams, and goals. One major factor that plays a big part in the process is understanding how my present capacity and capability may determine how I navigate moments of frustration, growth, or shifts when developing or accommodating different layers of my visionary pursuits. These lessons have been valuable for me, and I think they will prove valuable for you, too. So, let's dive in and unpack some visionary lessons on capacity and c ..read more

It’s okay to have moments of rest… growth is exhausting!

In the pursuit of your God-given visions and dreams, the growth stage can be exhausting. In the pursuit of your God-given visions and dreams, the growth stage can be exhausting. In the Pediatric world, we call them growth spurts. These are key moments when a child is getting ready to cross a major developmental milestone. Sometimes there can be aches and pains in this stage. Sometimes sleep is the only thing that can help the child “embrace” the rapid change that is taking place. Sometime nutrition and exercise are key to maintain stamina and energy. Whether it’s picking up more vocabulary, g ..read more

In case you needed a reminder...

As this year comes to an end, I wanted to leave you a little reminder. Remember: there's more to life than just your profession, or what you do to generate income for yourself or your family. It's not to say that your profession or revenue are not important, but be reminded it is not everything. Your very life is most important. How you navigate the lowest days and the highest highs have merit. How you celebrate -- not only your accomplishments, but also the accomplishments of others -- it all has great value. Of course, we all want to live a life of purpose and substance. And, in an ideal wo ..read more

Forgiveness: The Key to Valuing Everything

In case you wondered, my plant, again, is thriving now. If you remember from my last blog post (and this entire plant saga) I transitioned this precious jewel to the outside, which brought with it all kinds of revelation about being resilient and reflecting on the many things we've been experiencing collectively in our society. Although the transition was necessary for the growth and expansion of this previously sheltered plant, it was a little rough. With the first few days out in the hot sun, the previously stable leaves became burnt in some areas, and those lush green leaves that I had jus ..read more

2022: The Year of Perspective

It's easy to say... It's challenging to do... It's life altering to be... Let your character lead, and let your words follow. ~ Antonette, Visionary Nurse™ Oftentimes, in our initial journey to understanding our sense of action, advocacy, purpose, or influence, we often boil down who we are or what we want to accomplish to primarily what we say. It's our way of declaring, with boldness, the big dreams and visions we want to bring into this world. As we continue to evolve in our vision and purpose, and maybe gain a bit of understanding and clarity in the legacy we want to leave, we then have a ..read more

Wealth without wisdom is wasted

In this New Year, I imagine, although it may have felt difficult to sustain once the clock struck midnight, that you had tremendous goals and dreams that you wanted to accomplish, which may have felt usurped in 2020. Or, maybe you did accomplish those dreams, but now you're unsure of your next steps, or how to go to the next level. Either way, I am sure in one way, shape, or form, many of us are waiting on God to do BIG things in our lives; we are boldly speaking vision; and we are expectantly waiting for greatness to manifest. Right before the start of the year, I also previously sensed that ..read more

The Power of Prayer

In moments such as this one, where fear is abundant and uncertainty seems to the be the norm, the power of prayer can and may become a much needed breath of fresh air. Prior to our current global pandemic, prayer was already a staple part of my life, and — as has been for the majority of my life — an opportunity to connect with my Heavenly Father and seek guidance on the direction of my life. Having encountered many intense moments in my life, from losing my biological father at the tender age of 2 years old to a car accident, to ending up in critical care a couple of years ago following the ..read more

The Highlight Reel: Birthday Edition!

I am just a few days shy of a new year, and I usually don't like to make a big fuss about my birthday. But, this year, I am choosing to shout my joy from the rooftops, as this has been such a unique year for me. There have been a host of very remarkable experiences that have happened along the way, both positive, and some a bit difficult to digest (one such major blow was the devastation by Hurricane Dorian to several individual islands within my beloved Islands of the Bahamas). Yet, this year has truly been the year of "the highlight reel" for me. First, the fact that I am alive and well tod ..read more

Prepare to flourish. It's time to blossom!

For those of you just joining my visionary plant journey, check out previous posts to get the back story. However, I will try to catch you up to speed here. Here's the synopsis: I have a bulb plant that I received as a gift about 3 years ago. Though it's always sprouted beautiful green leaves, it's never sprouted flowers, which is what I was told it was supposed to do. And, for the first year or so, I didn't even really have a clear idea of the true nature of this plant. I was very much a newbie to the world of growing foliage, and was excited to see it do its thing. However, around the end o ..read more
