The chase for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series championship begins this weekend with one of the four Sportsman regions taking the green flag. The North Region kicks off its 2024 season as part of Can-Am Speedway’s 50th Jubilee Season opener on Friday, April 26. Drivers will battle in a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000-to-win. The battle to become the top DIRTcar weekend warrior begins this weekend. Drivers who compete weekly at DIRTcar-sanctioned tracks throughout the Northeast and Canada can earn extra money in the Hoosier Tire Weekly Racing championship. From now until Labor Day, the drivers who earn the most points will be crowned champions in the Big Block Modified, 358 Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock, and 4-Cylinder divisions. With persistent rain in the LaFargeville, NY area, and more expected through Friday, according to Precision Weather Service, DIRTcar Northeast and Can-Am Speedway officials have agreed to cancel Friday’s portion of Thunder in the Thousand Islands weekend headlined by the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series. The decision comes after working closely with Meteorologist Wayne Mahar from Precision Weather Service and monitoring the local weather.
