One of my favourite things to eat growing up were Parsi style mutton cutlets. It’s actually a toss-up between mutton kebabs (I’ve got a recipe on the channel and website as well) and mutton cutlets but it always had to be mutton and not chicken. Somehow the flavour and texture just hit the spot. Nostalgia plays such a big role when it comes to food choices that I find even as an adult if there are cutlets on the menu, I’ll gravitate towards that first. For the longest time if I was craving Parsi Mutton Cutlets I would order them from a caterer or one of the few standalone Parsi snack shops. Of ..read more

Instead of butter, we use ghee. We also add cardamom and nutmeg powder which are ingredients added in almost every Parsi dessert. You can go to any Parsi wedding or celebration and the hot topic of discussion will almost always be the menu. We take immense pride in our food and are always eager to know – what’s for dinner ( or lunch or breakfast ). Most menus are a standard affair and will get a seal of approval but if there’s no Saas Ni Macchi on the menu, I can guarantee at least one if not several disgruntled uncles and aunties muttering under their breath. It’s so beloved that a popular Parsi wedding caterer once told me ” the wedding feast is considered incomplete without Saas ni Macchi and couples have even called ..read more

We Parsis love our eggs and I’ve shared some of the popular egg recipes before on the site and my youtube channel ( linking them below ) but this one while it might not be very popular, it’s a favourite and one I just had to share. In the last couple of months I’ve shared plenty of Parsi recipes but the most requested has been one that isn’t one of my favourites so I’ve refrained. Till today that is. I’m finally sharing an easy recipe to what is possibly the most popular and highly requested dish from the Parsi cuisine – Dhansak. I’m not saying this is the best recipe or the most authentic, recipes differ from house to house and grandma to grandma, each adding their own twists and creating their versions but I am saying that this is a fabulous recipe that’s very tasty. I’ve made this with mutton chunks on the bone as tha ..read more
