When entering the Navajo Nation from the Northwest, there’s an area called “The Big Cut”. This overlooks the beginnings of The Grand Canyon, Marble Canyon, The Vermillion Cliffs, and Echo Cliffs.
These areas are filled with sacred history, forgotten trails, and stories. Some of our people hid here when the US soldiers were taking our people to the prison camp at Fort Sumner.
If you ever get the chance to drive through The Big Cut, the views are breat ..read more

An eclipse is called the Death of The Sun. During this time traditionally people would sit indoors and refrain from eating and drinking. Some would pray or sing songs.
Traditionally our people would not look at the eclipse. They were told they could get sick or go blind. Nowadays people look and celebrate.

There is a plant that our Navajo people use in many different ways.
A source of health, protection, food, shelter, cleansing… Sometimes our people call it "Cedar" but the proper name would be Juniper.
More robust than the common landscaping juniper bush. The juniper tree is central to the traditional way of life.
There are two types… the Male and the Female.

In the traditional way even rudeness could not be tolerated.
If there was contention between clan families amends had to be made and peace returned.
The reason… you and those around you cannot be on the Beauty Way Path if there is contention.
