Dog ownership can be incredibly rewarding, but it’s more than just long hikes and comfy snuggles in front of the TV with your furry friend. As responsible dog owners, we work hard to ensure our pups have everything they need to stay safe, healthy, and happy. This September, we celebrate owners like you with Responsible Dog Ownership Month.
Safety
One of the most critical aspects of dog safety is surprisingly small: the humble microchip. This chip is placed under your dog’s skin and contains your information. If your dog is lost or escapes, anyone with a scanner will be able to get your pup bac ..read more

Fireworks are fun and festive for many people, but for our furry family members, those bright sparkle showers combined with loud bangs and pops might just feel like torture. Dogs often respond to the sensory overload of fireworks with fear and panic, which can put them at risk for more serious issues. If your dog is afraid of fireworks, you can take control and ensure a happy summer for everyone.
Fireworks Anxiety in Dogs
Estimates reveal that between 40 and 80 percent of dogs react to fireworks. If your dog is among them, they may experience:
Increased alertness
Flattened ears

Sydney Williams, a beagle lab mix, started coming to our daycare as her dad works and she has separation anxiety. She was pretty nervous at first, but we figured out a few things that helped her calm down. First, she loves blankets. If there’s a blanket in the room, you bet she’ll lay on it. Second, she loves being outdoors, and her nerves definitely calm down when she’s hanging out in the yard and sunbathing.
The most amazing thing happened, though. A miniature Dachshund named Reese, started coming to our daycare. She was also a bit skittish at first, but she had a few dogs she loved and woul ..read more

Alibi became a part of The Pack back in 2022 along with her sister Kira. Kira and Ali were completely different, but both clearly had a heart of gold. Ali has had a tough past and was actually mistreated, which led her to minimize her trust in humans. When Ali started coming to us, she was fearful, anxious, and didn’t know what love truly was. It took my staff and I months before she was able to express how much our patience meant to her. Within time, her beautiful personality started blooming and she began to rush into the daycare rooms, followed with a good morning howl to her Packmates. Lit ..read more

Gryffin Sandler is a standard poodle male, about a year old. His first day he came in very shy and unsure about staff and the other dogs in the room he literally stayed near the door or way off to a corner by the window, after about a week of him coming in for daycare we gradually saw him come out of his shell with us and also his packmates. After he boarded with us for the holidays we could say he owned that little pack like it was his own, he would follow daycare attendants EVERYWHERE and he especially wanted to be the helper for lunch, although he was still a little socially selective about ..read more

One thing we love is the way daycare can add value to a dog’s life by showing them how to make friends and socialize with other dogs. Gemma was super shy and hiding under furniture when she first came in. Until she met Weller, another blue heeler puppy who was only 3 days younger than her. They played all day, and since then she’s super happy, playful, and cuddly with everyone! Weller and Gemma’s moms even swapped information, and now they go on dog park play dates together!
