Hi, I'm Paul. I aim to help people reconnect with the joy and calmness in food by breaking the diet cycle that is chaotic patterns to restrictive diets and back to chaotic patterns. At its core my philosophy as an Online Personal Trainer is simple. There is no diet to fall off when you are not on one in the first place.

Yoyo dieting will never be fixed with more dieting. And yet, the desire to change your body is difficult to put aside. It’s understandable. But how do you address this issue?
This episode explores 3 core ideas for breaking yoyo dieting forever;
‘If/then’ planning
Unconditional (not uncritical) permission to eat and entering a deliberate weight-neutral phase.
Weight management is not about diets. It’s about skill development and self-awareness.

Join Paul as he talks about how we can use death to increase awareness of how we spend precious moments of life.
The transient nature of life makes it beautiful. Understanding this encourages us to appreciate our bodies, savour food, evaluate who influences us and audit our desires. One personal tragedy can change us philosophically in ways that no amount of reading can.
For the short time we’re here, we can choose to appreciate mundane experiences more deeply.

Making changes is hard at the best of times. It’s even harder when life is stressful.
Stress can change your eating habits. Some people eat more and some eat less.
In both cases, a new set of diet rules does not engage with real life.
When stress occurs, the diet rules come apart and old habits set in immediately.
A new belief is reinforced.
“I need to suffer in a way I am used to suffering if I’m to feel that nutrition is working.”
The cycle worsens. Strict rules -> Failure and chaos -> More strict rules -> Failure and chaos.

An introduction to values
Most clients hire me for weight loss– the kind that sustains. I’m perfectly happy to do that, as long as the choices you make are a reflection of your personal values.
Values are the reasons you make the choices you make. They are personal incentives and motivations behind decisions. They work best when they are consciously created and include a wider spectrum of reasons to eat that go beyond just weight loss.
Values are vital when creating eating habits (and life choices).
For example, I can think of nothing I’d rather do less than go to the cinema.
