A pet animal died during an arrest on Tuesday night. An officer of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Freedom Division discharged a service weapon that struck a dog who later died of its injuries, according to a statement from CMPD.  On April 17, shortly before 10 p.m., CMPD saw a suspect, who the department believes was involved in an auto theft, outside his home on Sharyn Drive. On Thursday, April 18, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra held a ribbon-cutting Thursday afternoon for a new community-focused mobile stage. The 40-foot stage will make stops in neighborhoods within the city’s Corridors of Opportunity. According to a press release sent Tuesday, the trailer is meant to create opportunities for musicians within the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (CSO) to “walk-up” concerts to the neighborhoods. A gun was fired inside a dorm on Monday morning at an HBCU.  North Carolina A&T announced in a statement on X — formerly known as Twitter — on April 15, that a gunshot was fired in Barbee Hall. Almost six years ago, Tomeka Isaac said she came very close to joining a list no one wants to be part of — the tally of Black women who have died related to pregnancy.
