Hello, My husband was awarded CRSC a few months ago with the PACT Act and has been receiving payments. Last month's CRSC payment was a couple hundred dollars more than the previous months. Is there a COLA adjustment in Oct? If so, was it a percentage? I just want to make sure he was not overpaid for some other reason. Thank you so much ..read more

Hello, My husband got his pay for the month and it was about 300 something more than usual. We have a son that just turned 18 and is in school. So, We were thinking the pay increase was because of that. When we got the Retire Account Statement today, his VGLI allotment is gone. Why would this be gone? Of course they are closed for the day. Has this happened to anyone? Is it because my son turned 18? I don't know why that would trigger that? Can we get it back. We need that... Read more ..read more

0% for sinuses, appeal?

So I am kinda unsure if I should file an appeal, since I wouldn't lose anything if I did. I recently was awarded 0% for sinusitis, with the only symptom listed as headache, which isn't correct. I have a lot more symptoms than that. Also I went back through my VA medical records for the past 24 months and wrote down all the dates I went to the doctors or VA urgent care and was roughly 14 or 15 times, this doesn't count the times I called just for prescriptions. I now have to take Flonase... Read more ..read more

Hi all; am curious about my upcoming 2020 review. Want to put the best terms I can in the doctor visits and hospitalizations questions. Just wondering, I know it says to leave a space in between words on the boxes, but what would happen if I didn't and ran my words together (ex:reallybadneckpain vs really bad neck pain ..read more

DO I need a VSO or not?

I'm currently rated at 80% by the VA, medically retired by the Navy in 2011 at 30%. My husband just retired a few weeks ago and his VSO informed me I should be reevaluated by the VA because several of my conditions have gotten worse over the past 12 years and one of them was never rated and should have been. 1) Do you feel you are likely to have better success filing for an increase if using a VSO? 2) Which VSO organization do you recommend and why? We were using AMVET's, but our... Read more ..read more

CRSC and Gulf War Presumptive Conditions / PACT ACT

How do we get the government to add conditions to the presumptive listing? For Example IBS is presumptive but Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis aren't. Considering that they are just a further progression of IBS why are they are not on the listing? While researching the GULF WAR & PACT Act listings I read in the law that they mention autoimmune diseases and only list examples of certain ones but don't seem to limit it to those exact ones. Maybe I missed something I'll have to look it up again... Read more ..read more

Chapter 35 and 18 year old dependent

Hello, My son will be going to college this fall and is using Chapter 35 benefits. We received a letter from the VA that was saying how he was almost 18 and was asking would he be in school. This was for the VA disability benefits, where you get benefits for each child. For some reason, I was thinking I read somewhere that you cannot get chapter 35 and the larger pay for a dependent in college. Is this correct? So on this chart, when my son turns 18 would he get $324.12 for him or no... Read more ..read more

TEXAS property tax exemptions and MUDs/PIDs

Any 100% disabled veteran currently living in TX and living in an area that has a MUD/PID tax on here? I'm looking to move to TX soon and I'm getting conflicting answers in regards to whether 100% VA disabled veterans that are exempted from property taxes are still required to pay MUD/PID taxes. I called the county tax assessor's office and they said we are NOT exempted from MUD/PID taxes, but a friend who resides in TX said his neighborhood has a MUD but he isn't required to pay it. For...
