POSING

The word that drives fear and dread even into the most seasoned of camera-ready women. We are bombarded with images on Pinterest and Influencers on social media with these effortless poses, pouting lips and Diana esq fluttering eyes. It’s all smoke and mirrors. There I said it, it’s an illusion created by the creative directors or photographers to get the best out of their subjects all of whom are MODELS and do this for a living. It’s the way they can sell their art and their photography by using people who know how to create the shapes with their bodies and faces and know their best angles an ..read more

At the beginning September I was booked for a very exciting brand shoot with Equi-Light and their brand ambassador Sophie Hall I got to know Rebecca and her mum Liz who own Equi-Light after being introduced through a social media zoom course and our friendship went from there, so when I was asked to work with I jumped at the chance. We travelled over to Sophie's stunning parents home in the middle of nowhere on the English/Welsh border in Shropshire, where she has her three horses, Freddie, George and Gus and two dogs Arthur and Darcie who were highly entertaining! Equi-Light have designed a ..read more

Where do I start.....finding the perfect outfit even for everyday can be stressful, especially with with the random British weather, am I right? However there is so much help up there if you look for it! Pinterest is a perfect example, I also use this to make pinboards/mood boards for clients to help them decide what to wear on their shoot. It's fantastic for picking up ideas and putting outfits together and finding colours to complement your horse as well. Another example is https://www.stitchfix.co.uk/. It's a personalised shopping clothes company, you take their quiz and they find clothes ..read more

The Last Goodbye

Saying the final farewell is truly one of the hardest things to do to your beloved horses. This year I have had too many friends and clients lose their best friends, some untimely and some due to old age or worse having to make a decision to let them go due to not being able to make them better. Sam had to make the heart-breaking decision to soon for her boy Woody, she called me in tears last minute, her boy had only a few days left with her. We spent an hour together capturing, their bond. It's always such an emotional time, happy but tinged with a sadness you can't explain unless you have be ..read more

At the end of 2020, when we finally had the chance to get back out and about after COVID I had the pleasure of having Lauren & her beautiful mare Mega join me as my sponsored rider/influencer (and now friend). When we did actually get to meet at her home in Bedfordshire in the March of 2021, Mega had just had her kissing spine surgery and was starting on her long road to recovery. We had a lovely morning together albeit a touch grey and drizzly, it was so nice to finally get to meet each other and start our journey together. Since then we have had numerous shoots, giving Lauren some incre ..read more

Why a yard day is a great idea!

Two reasons..... Lots of fun! Amazing images! Time spent with your horse, well that's three but who's counting.... Friends and horses who could ask for more. It also takes some of the pressure off if you don't feel you are ready for having a private shoot completely on your own, if your nervous having someone there you know can give you a boost of confidence, it also helps spread the cost and gives you an insight into what I can do for you. We don't have to do it at your yard, if you have a few friends dotted around at different yards, why not travel together somewhere lovely like the woods o ..read more

Setting goals is a huge part of who I am as a person, if I didn't set them I would just end up plodding on never achieving anything. In June 2021 I finally got round to paying for my BIPP membership, meaning I could start planning on putting in for a qualification with the institute. I had 4 months to prep for the day which was to be in October. Me being me I gave myself no time to prepare and I had two weeks to decide which images I wanted to submit. Fortunately for me I was given a bit of leeway as they put the date forward to November which gave me a few weeks breathing space! There are th ..read more

Your never too old to learn.....mid June saw me heading down to see two fabulous ladies who have been guiding me for the last few months. On the way down I had a serious wardrobe malfunction....never wear a white linen shirt and buy a McDonalds coffee....it's never a happy ending! As you can imagine making a good impression is high on my list so a brown stained shirt wasn't the best way to start a day. Luck would have it I had a hoodie on my back seat to change into, phew. After arriving on time in the middle of the New forest the large gates of Emily's house opened and I drove in to be greete ..read more

Starting out my equine photography journey I was lucky enough to be in the position to have my own horse and have amazing friends and horses to be my models, happy to have their photo taken with their beautiful four legged equine partners. After a morning of riding one sunny summers day I dragged my friends and horses out for a wander round the gorgeous lanes and woodlands round our yard estate. Capturing the bond between them. Claire and Woody were naturals and they had such a special connection with each other. We got some gorgeous shots. It is so crucial you have friends who will be there ..read more
