This big ol’ crazy world gets feeling pretty small and beautiful sometimes.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I LOVE my job and am so grateful for the opportunities that come from and through it. Fortunately, some of this work time recently was spent in the tiny town of Parkfield, CA fueled by the V6 Ranch and the Varian family. A springtime weekend full of blue skies, good horses, great food, and new friends with the familiarity of old ones is good for the soul in any capacity; but having the privilege of documenting it? Even more fulfilling. To meet so many V6 regulars on my t ..read more

It takes a village- that’s for dang sure! And THANKFULLY, my village happens to be amazing. Sometimes as a creative, I have big ideas and dreams and they don’t amount to much in the long run.  but SOMETIMES, with a whole lot of planning and an incredible group of collaboration & support, these ideas come to fruition in the very sweetest possible ways. This styled shoot was all I could’ve hoped for and more. A way for me to put complete artistic vision, planning, and design into a shoot from start to finish. A way to hand select every element. A way to challenge myself as a photographe ..read more

Harvest season is here in sunny Paso Robles, California! After a long hot summer, it is so sweet to see the fruit thriving and being collected from the vine, thankful for this season’s warmth.  While I ALWAYS appreciate a good glass of Paso wine, I am not a vineyard expert, so I won’t pretend I am. I do have the fortunate opportunity though, of spending a great deal of time riding horses through the vineyards of Cass Winery with Central Coast Trailrides. Grapes are a funny crop. They grow when nothing else should, and come to life right as the triple digit heat of the north county bri ..read more

Any project or dream that is worth pursuing and brings you joy often comes with risks and fear, and rarely comes easily. In the last few years I have (slowly & surely) worked my butt off to build a business truly branded to me, what I love, and what I want to continue to grow.  There is planning, time, money, frustration, more money, more frustration, and sometimes, a small victory.  For my SUPER amazing friend Bubba, the breeding and training world is that passion and labor of love. In a similar life phase as I am in, it has been so cool to watch him grind to grow his brand and ..read more

Longtime heart horses are often irreplaceable. Their partnerships teach, sometimes frustrate, and help horse and rider grow. They are filled with huge wins and heartbreaking losses, and so many golden “worth it” moments.  Whether they are able to live with you throughout their entire career or whether time and circumstance means your partnership only lasts for a season, there are the special horses that stay with your heart always. The horses that are the reason we put so much time, money, and effort into our sport and practices. Into training, into caring for 1200lb animals, into tack an ..read more

Oh boy, is it a joy to photograph my very best friends! My sweetest long-time roommate, best friend, and twin is getting married to a pal of mine since the 7th grade, and that is truly something to celebrate. They are high school sweethearts who conquered a long-distance college relationship across the country and came out thriving and more in love than ever. The most exciting chapter for them, filled so full of love and joy, and I got to help capture it! Just a few months ago, I hiked up to hide in the bushes and capture their Cerro San Luis proposal moments, and now had the absolute pr ..read more

Well folks, the time has almost come! The amazing program you see me post about so often is five days from an event two years in the making. If you haven’t gone to check out the young horses and student trainers in this weekend’s sale, please head to ranchhorse.calpoly.edu to check out all their fantastic marketing content. While every batch of horses they start are great, this crew is near and dear to me, as the students, horses, and program have had to be so much more creative in their grit, problem-solving, and determination. These 17 Cal Poly students alongside the instruction of Lou Moore ..read more

Cass & Lego have the CUTEST bond. His favorite trick is reaching over for kisses, c’mon… it doesn’t get any better than that. THIS gal is amazing, and I am lucky to know her and honored to be her friend. She is headed to Texas A&M to attend vet school for the next few years, and trust me, the world will be all the better with Dr. Cassidy in it. Her skills and smarts are impressive and she is the sweetest of friends- this gal is gonna do huge things. So proud of her and privileged to be a little part of her life and capture some beautiful moments for her. (and yes, her sweet Lego man to ..read more
