Jours Pâles – Dissolution
Metal Revolution

Jours Pâles is a French Black Metal duo, one that I have had the pleasure of following since their inception back in 2019; At the time known as Asphodèle, a Post-Black Metal act – The next year they took the name of their first and only release, Jours Pâles, and made it their new moniker while shifting to a more consistent Black Metal sound.  Over the last five years, the number of members as well as whom these particular members were has varied considerably with the only consistent member throughout being Spellbound – The main vocalist, lyricist and current keyboard player. I seem to rec ..read more

My Dying Bride – A Mortal Binding
Metal Revolution
by Zoran

British Doom Metal legends released their previous album The Ghost of Orion just days before pandemic paralyzed the world in 2020. It was an important album for the band, because it came out after five years of not releasing new music, the longest period between two albums in band’s almost three-decade long career. The album was also important, because it was their first album not to be released by Peaceville Records. At the same time that Nuclear Blast debut was also an album that boldly explored more approachable side of My Dying Bride’s musical spectra. It goes without saying that the pande ..read more

Next band I choose to present today is Deathlike Dawn who hail from a Polish extreme metal scene that has achieved great international success and has become one of the most significant ambassadors of Polish culture. Deathlike Dawn is a solo work the solo work of Hyperborean, with session lead vocals by J. Among the Graves of the Archetypes is the title for this second full-length album by this Polish act. As I never heard the debut album Deliria and Dreams, I didn’t know what to expect before listening to this sophomore album for the first time. Already, with the first tones of the opening so ..read more

Kouristus is a grindcore quartet from Tampere, Finland founded in 2012. The band has been active on the stage for many years and now their earned experience resulted in a completely new release from this band from the land of thousand lakes. What we have here is the collection of their Demo 2022, Demo 2019 & Teurastamo EP, now released via Visceral Circuitry! The whole release contains 15 tracks, including some never physically released songs, in a typical grindcore & hardcore punk manner. Thus, all the tracks are very fast and short. The whole release starts with Demo 2022, which is t ..read more

Sunnata – Chasing Shadows
Metal Revolution
by Zoran

Sunnata is in many ways a rather unique band. Musically their doom cornerstone is inspired by boggy grunge of 90’s Alice and Chains and the spellbinding depths of general Swans approach. And while on paper that formula might not sound groundbreaking, the result is most certainly unique and gives the band the identity that is undoubtfully their own. Also, band’s approach to releasing records is somewhat unusual. Chasing Shadows their fifth album is just like the previous ones released by band themselves. And taking into the consideration that they’ve been releasing albums for a decade now and t ..read more

The Swedish (Kiruna-based) death metal band Those Who Bring The Torture has recently released their ninth album, Towards Decay via Iron, Blood and Death Corporation. For those of you still unfamiliar with this band, I can tell that the band was originally formed in 2007, officially disbanded in 2010, and then reformed in 2012 evolving into a solo project by Rogga Johansson, who’s the only remaining original member of the band. At the present time, Rogga is joined by John Rudin (drums) and Kjetil Lynghaug (guitar). What this Kiruna trio offer on this latest full-length is a sample of death meta ..read more

Profane Burial – My Plateau
Metal Revolution

Profane Burial is a self-proclaimed ‘cinematic’ Black Metal band, one that aspires to mix together the epic scores of a film soundtrack with that of a heavily melodious Black Metal sound – I seem to recall the term ‘Symphonic Black Metal’ being coined back in 1993 when Dimmu Borgir somewhat popularized the genre. And Profane Burial, or at the very least the three Norwegian members that make up the band definitely draw a lot of inspiration from their kinsmen; That being said, however, the world as well as the musical trends within the different genres have changes since then, meaning that while ..read more

Founded in 2017, Meridion is a four-piece death metal combo hailing from Santiago, Chile. The band consists of Southern Curse (guitars, synths, horns & vocals), Bonefucker (bass), Shoort Dagon (drums) and Condanatore (keyboards). In 2018 this hard-hitting Chilean quartet released their debut full-length, Rise from the South. It gained a lot of attention and positive feedback from both fans and media. Thus, the band quickly established themselves in the South American metal scene. Now, almost five years later, their sophomore full-length has been released via Mexican underground label, Iron ..read more
