Just curious if any of you guys & gals use a the pit boss sportsman line of pellet grill/smoker? I just recently ordered 1 & I'm waiting for it to be delivered. Hopefully by the end of next week. I'm just curious if any of you like, love, hate it & if the smoke like a boss mods are worth it. I also bought every accessory they offered for it thru Pit Boss. The side smoker cabinet, insulted grill cover, griddle plate, & a bunch of other stuff. I know it ain't the best machine out there... Read more ..read more

Guys & gals I recently ordered a Pit Boss Sportsman 1100 grill. I'm hoping to do some cold smoking this winter. Cheeses & such, maybe some bacon if somebody can help me achieve that goal. I also bought the side smoker attachment because I've heard they run 25-35°f cooler than grill/pit Temps. I bought 4 smoker tubes, 2-6"tubes, 2-12" tubes & the 5"&8" maze smoker tray. OK it seems I always hear of the smoker trays or tubes going out because the lack of air flow/draft. So my question is... Read more ..read more

Smokeman Pellet Smoker Problems

My Smokin' Brothers!! I have never had a smoker before. My bossman gave me his old Smokeman pellet smoker a few years back when he bought a RecTec. I tried it out, but could never really get it hot enough to cook, although it did put out some smoke. I have been busy for a few summers and never got back to it. I pulled it out today to get ready for a smokin' summer and can't get it to stay running. Auger started, smoke came out for a bit, then it just shut off. If I fiddle and fart with it... Combo Pellet smoker/Grill?

We recently relocated from CA to a free state. In the process, I chose to give my old Traeger to my brother, and my propane grille to a neighbor. Logistics prevented moving them...long story. Anyway my question is this. Is there a pellet smoker that gets hot enough to grill burgers on, like you would doing a quick dinner of burgers on the propane? I do still have my grill grates I rescued from my old gas grill. I use smoker for ribs, Tri-tip and steaks. Gas is primarily used for quick... Read more ..read more

Cabla pellet smoker noise

google search didn’t help so I’m turning to the pros. Just purchased the Cabela pellet smoker and it’s making a noise that I don’t think is normal. I can hear fan noise which I expect. But this sounds like an intermittent buzzing every 20 seconds or so. isn’t what I expect from a new unit. Using regular pellets so I don’t think it’s the grinding from the auger. And I can’t figure out how to post a video. Anyone else experience this or should I be taking this back to the store? ** edit **... Read more ..read more

I see GMG has redesigned their grill recently, has anybody here tried one of the new one yet? I currently have a Daniel Boone Prime Plus and it's had a couple minor problems, but overall been a great unit. Like the upgrades they have made on the new ones as far as design, thinking of getting the Peak model but I really don't NEED a bigger one.... Just curious who has some hands on with the new grills(I understand they have changed manufacturers) and how they compare to the older models... Read more ..read more

FINALLY assembled the smoker AND the storage shed so we can try and keep the rig clean when not in use! Fired it up for the initial 'burn off' in preparation for the inaugural food smoke! First time with an electric smoker and it's interesting, to say the least. The Traeger app is handy to monitor and adjust temps as needed without going outside. Purchased a Thermoworks X 4-probe unit and plan on smoking a butt with some squeef's for the inaugural smoke! Ahh .. I've missed the sweet smell of... Read more ..read more

Pit Boss competition series vertical smoker advice

Recently purchased a Pit Boss PBV5V2. This is an upgrade from a Dynaglo vertical propane smoker. Here’s where I need the advice; I noticed after my first smoke(smoked chuck roast)there was a ton of accumulated ash at the bottom of the chamber. I kinda expected the ash to accumulate in the cup. There also seemed to be a fine layer of ash on the walls of the chamber and grates(don’t think it’s smoke residue because it wipes off very easily-could be wrong). Anyone have experience with this...
